Well the Pentax 18-50 certainly is your imagination.the Tamrom 18-250 and the mechanical focusing rings on the lens seem a hell of a lot quieter than the 18-50 Pentax and the 50-200mm unless its my imagination.
What are you talking about, "mechanical focusing rings"?
Are you talking about AF or MF?
Is it AF noise (ie, from the MOTOR and the drive train) you're worried about, or the click as the mirror flaps up and down? Because you can't fix the latter.

Not my point exactly. Just that I really think you would be putting yourself in a difficult position if you were to try to fund gear for two brands of cameras.Look the idea is not to sell the camera just get a second.
If for some reason Pentax did not make a kit that you can live with, my suggestion would be sell off what you have and stick with a single brand.
Anyway, not sure what you mean by the sounds of the focus rings with the 18-55. I think as the slapping noise when the lens reaches its limits is a bit outrageous. I haven't tried many other camera brands (and when I do, it is in a large warehouse store -- hardly a place to compare noise), but it does seem more noisy than lets say my Pentax 50mm or Sigma 18-200.

petekd, I can see you don't see eye-to-eye with a few of the other characters here but, George Lazarette has a point, which he put fairly politely and thoughtfully, it seemed to me. Your reply was somewhat immature and - like your original question - full of spelling mistakes and bad grammar.
This doesn't really help your case. If you don't want people to think you're a ranting nutter, you need to adopt a more sophisticated demeanor.
Furthermore, you don't go along to a Tory Party conference and start asking everyone what they think of various Labour policies if you want balance.

Anyway the slapping of the shutter mirror is one issue but I can live with it. Im talking about the whirring noise coming from the lens when focusing. The tamron 18-250mm seems a lot quieter.
I can manuel focus but defeats the point then again not all shots are taken in church

To be quite honest with you Pete - having seen the pictures you posted from your first wedding shoot I'd have thought that your primary concern shouldn't really be with the noise your current equipment makes but instead working at your technique using your existing equipment.
Having only ever shot one wedding I've only got limited experience however for that I used mainly fast primes and I'm sure I'd have found a lens as slow and limiting as the Nikon 18-200 you mention to be a problem. Having faster lenses isn't just useful for making better use of available light it also gives you the ability to throw backgrounds well out of focus which can be very useful in crowded venues.

AF noise, and indeed mirror-slap, are only an issue in very quiet places.
AF noise is easily dealt with, with a bit of technique, and mirror-slap isn't fixable, and can be extremely irritating.
So quieter focusing won't solve your problem.

Pete,
Here's my honest opinion.
You are very immature. You always think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Whatever you have, you always think there is something better out there.
If you continue in your present vein, throwing money away, you soon won't be able to afford anything.
Nothing in life is perfect. We have to make do with what comes our way. In your case, by sheer luck, you have ended up with a magnificent camera. There are bound to be one or two things that other cameras do better, but, overall, you won't improve on the K10D, so STOP WORRYING about it.
If you were Don, you would have fashioned a little reflector out of whatever came to hand, or bought a cheap bracket, and you would have been able to swivel your 360.
But being you, you wasted a load of time and money by selling the 360 and buying the Sigma. Now you want a new camera.
Now, grow up, get real, and deal with the problem. There is presently an AF400T on Ebay which looks very professional. You'll have to use it on manual, but you'll soon learn how. Alternatively, get another 360 and a bracket.

George you are a complete Ars..ole you didnt complain when I was selling you the 360 which you happily have in your possesion now. Pete,

I haven't had my K10D for a week yet but here's my 2 cents (therefore shouldn't be too bias; until last week I was a Nikon user afterall ^.^)
http://homepage.mac.com/cherrylicious/K10D-DAstar50-135/
Personally, I wouldn't be able to use 2 different systems at the same time. I've only shot one wedding and it's pretty stressful as it is, I wouldn't want to be thinking about which button goes where (but that may be because I'm somewhat absentminded).
Besides, as someone else has said, it's more the photographer moving around and the flash that distracts a wedding rather than the clicks. What I hate about weddings now that evryone has a digital P+S is that too many wedding guests get up during the ceremony to take pictures. Argh! I went to a civil wedding once where there were more people in front taking pictures than sitting down!
I agree that there are some nice features on the Nikon D80 and the D200 but the K10D is a fabulous camera as well. The rare times I need to be reassured I made the right choice by going Pentax I remind myself of the tacky music you can add to the slideshow with the D80 (I must say the "thinning" feature in the K10D is almost as bad though... :blush
P.S.: I'd be curious to know why you didn't go for the Pentax 540 because at the moment I'm looking into this model and the Metz mecablitz 54 MZ-4 / 54 MZ-4i. However, if you do decide on going with the D80, may I recommend their SB-800 flash.

As I said yesterday, after downloading the firmware, the DA*50-135 is almost silent so if you are really concerned with the noise go with this lens. I know it doesn't have a large range zoom but the images it takes are quite beautiful. It's also a rather quick lens so I think it'll give you nice interior shots. I was impressed by it's result in very low-light conditions. Here is the link to my gallery: Im talking about the whirring noise coming from the lens when focusing. Please don't take what's following the wrong because I'm not trying to be impudent. Could it be that your camera's noise seemed louder because you are closer to your camera than your friend's? Also, we often get self-conscious of what we do. on Sunday my camera seemed far louder than my friends (Pro) camera.

How about if I slag off the K10D for a bit, and then repent... will you sell it to me?
