No - the *istD uses Compact Flash cards and not the SD type

Thanks Andy, mine does use the SD card. May be the model used both types of card by mine is def. SD and I would like to purchase a 4GB if it is compatable with my camera.

I believe you must have an *istDS or *istDL rather than the *istD. The former 2 use SD cards. Before purchasing an SDHC card, it would be worth making sure as I am aware that some earlier devices with SD cards could only go to 2Gb on SD, and are not SDHC compatible. I suspect that the *istdS/ DL are not compatible.
Hopefully someone with one can help...?

Thanks, it is indeed a DS and getting a little long in the tooth, perhaps I should go for 2 at 2GB rather than push my luck

The Ds will take SDHC cards - provided you have the most up to date firmware, otherwise it will not accept them.

I've been reading this thread and I'm looking to get some SDHC cards, but can't decide between the Sandisk Extreme 3 or the Lexar Pro range, as most of the time I'll be using them for action shots. Having looked at the spec they both seem to be the same speed. Any suggestions as to which brand I should go for as at the moment I have a mixture of cards but want to stick to one brand if possible.

I use the Sandisk Extreme III SDHC 4Gb cards. Picstop are selling them with the "SanDisk Micromate" - which is an incredibly fast USB2/SD/SDHC card reader

Look at www.ebuyer.com. I use sandisk or Laxar as a rule, and £14 for a 8GB sdhc card can't be bad

Ohhhhh, you mean Lexar Laxar is known here as something you take in, and usually results in a quick run to the bathroom.

Just got one of these and it seems to work fine.
Currently I take the following with me which is adequate for the average summer holiday for me:
1x 4gb, 2x 2gb, 3x 1gb
1x 2gb cheapo, 1x 1gb cheapo as backup.
If I run out of space during the holiday then I can allways buy locally...
The only thing is why does Sandisk include a cardreader with each sdhc card... please leave it out and make the card cheaper...
