Sculpture Image: Original or Colour Pop?

The sculpture in question is a life-size bronze resin by Carol Peace (a long-time favourite of mine) entitled 'In My Hands' which was exhibited at the Fresh Air Sculpture Festival, Quenington, Glos., earlier this month. Rather than just taking a photograph, beautiful though the sculpture is, I chose to add my own imprint on the work by placing the open catalogue depicting Carol Peace's exhibits in its hands. The resulting image I have titled 'In My Hands - What I'm Reading Now' and is reproduced here in two forms (original and colour pop). So my questions are does my 'addition' add or detract from my representation of the work and, if so, which of the two versions most effectively illustrate my intent?

I like both but prefer the colour pop version if I have to choose.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

The second one edges it for me, not usually my sort of thing but you've got this just right

Isolated colour in an otherwise B&W image screams of gimmickry to me, I've never liked it. So the first one.

The full colour image for me. In the colour image there is a good visual balance between sculpture and catalogue. In the colour pop image the emphasis shifts away from the sculpture to the catalogue, too much so for my taste.

Thank you all for your interest and comments, which served to help me reappraise my efforts and realise that the colour image best represents the work and my intent in photographing it as I did.

All that remains is for me to decide if I have the courage to solicit the sculptor's views on my interpretation of her work
