Gents
This has no doubt been asked before but my searching capabilities aren't very good so please bear with me.
I'm sending off to SRS for a M42 to K mount adapter so I can use my old Spotmatic lenses on my K10D. I've studied the K10D handbook and I can't fathom out what camera setting I need to use these lenses in order for the exposure meter to work. They are all old lenses with auto/manual aperture control.
Thanks in anticipation.

If you mean the M42 mount then I have a couple of Vivitar macro lenses that use this and I set the lens to manual, the camera to AV and then use the aperture ring while metering with the green button.

It may not even be the right thing to do but seems to work ok.

Set the lens to manual. Select the desired aperture using the aperture ring. The K10d will select the optimum shutter speed in any setting except M, B or X.
I find that my K10d slightly overexposes when using these old lenses and so I either apply a little bit of exposure compensation, or I bracket.
The results are pleasing to say the least.

Thanks Gents
The adapter came this morning. I used it on aperture priority and everything seems ok.
Thanks again.

Hmm, I always thought that "older" was older than "old".

Personally, I'm less young than I used to be*.

I'm just older than I want to be.
