Yeah, guess the Metz wins that one for me. Still I would have liked to see a large head with bounce etc and a direct fixed second flash but its definitely a winner against the Pentax one.
Many thanks

I'd get the Metz flash as it's not a great deal more and it'll offer you more control over light as it's a full 3 way gun with more features than the 360fgz

Just one thing. The flash is not available do far (at least I could not find it, but its still a couple of month to go so no panic).I'd get the Metz flash as it's not a great deal more and it'll offer you more control over light as it's a full 3 way gun with more features than the 360fgz

Again as for the Pentax, the price is interesting that's for sure. Have to see how much the Metz is as I have not seen any price for it yet.

I am also in the market for a decent flash unit and interested in the recommmended Metz, as above. I was considering the new Sigma EF530 Super (from SRS @ £159) which appears to be fully Pentax PTTL compatible.
Any opinions on this as opposed to the Metz ? Thanks.

But you've a Metz 48, but linked to the new Metz 44 you know, I don't believe that one is in the shops yet.

Yeah I thought about it wanted to get back here yesterday but got caught up in something else (as usual). I am thinking about it as it looks the job but it still has not the second direct flash I was interested in but I may get actually two. The 48 AF-1 and a second hand 45 CL-4 with a Hot Shoe sync cable (if I can find it) as I am used to it even in manual and I just love this one when using long range lenses as I still got my Tele 'lens' tin that was out in the mid 80s to use the flash with a (up to) 500mm lens. It bundled the light via a Fresnel lens and got quite some way on full power (about 150m depending on how clear it was and if other filters where used on an ISO 100). I know there are TTL Hot shoe cables popping up every now and then for Pentax on feeBay and the flash you can pick up relatively cheap as well. That would give me the widest range of options with one mobile one (48 AF-1 and one that I can use when I use my tripod or on the 500mm I will get soon (right at the top of my list).Doh! Thats the one I meant !

Yep, that's the one. I know that the price goes up but with a bit of shopping about and a bit of luck I can get the 44 and 45 for less then the 58. I am not in a particular rush at the moment and the 37 that I got is doing fine in manual for the moment but as soon as it comes to the new year I will seriously looking in to it. At the moment I just hunting for a bargain if I can get one (missed out on a 45 CT-1 for only £15 inclusive of a universal hot shoe adaptor.
The main time I will use a flash is at night as I rarely do people but do wildlife and the flash has to go far but at the same time I do not want to limit myself hence the idea with the second direct flash as an option as the 58 provides and that I can carry with me all the time .
The 45 would be only used at night and with a tripod anyway, you will see why when I get over the next few month my portfolio will grow here and on flickr.
The 48 is £135 and if I can get a cheap(ish) 45 CT-4 or better with a hot shoe adapter I should be under the price of the 58 but then again I do like the second direct flash and I know I just start to repeat myself now so I will probably see what I got on finances.
Maybe my wife feels generous at Christmas and get me the 58 AF-1 that would be the best way as that would leave me free to get a 45 as well.
Photography, you never ever stop spending money as there is always something that you may 'need' or 'want' or just 'desire'.
Many thanks for your continuous help in making a decision
Kind regards

just a quick one for a change. I am after a Samsung SEF-36PZF and SEF-54PZF Flash. I would prefer a second hand one but those are as rare as Moondust on the Sun. I would very much prefer the SEF-54PZF.
Am I fixed on the Samsung??? NO, I would consider a Metz as well as long as ALL auto functions are available. It does not has to be too powerful. On full power going about 7-10m with ISO100 would be fine but I very much would prefer one that has a bounce and one direct (I guess you know what I mean) that's why the preference for the SEF-54PZF. I know that they do not come cheap and unless I can get a bargain this will be on my Christmas list right at the top, as long as the camera and the flash are working together that is the main thing and as smaller of flatter the plash as better.
any help hint or tips would be greatly appreciated. I also started a threat in the general chat forum about what USB socket it is that the GX10 has. If you can help with that just hop over and help me out on that one as well as I need at least one more cable. link
Many thanks
