Just get a card reader
Honestly much easier and cheaper leave one in your camera bag , one by the computer and hide a athird somewhere safe as a spare [ just in case you mislay one ]

Guess card reader it has to be as I am not paying over £5 for a cable that is not even one meter. I tried to avoid the card reader as handling the card is always, no matter how careful you are, a bit risky but with those prices NO WAY. Its the same as with HDMI leads. £3.99 will do and you will not see the difference in normal circumstances. So why shell out £20,£30 and more when there is no visual improvement?

Integral SDHC card reader, pen drive sized, from Amazon was a modest £1.28 including shipping....remarkable!

I got some card readers from Poundland - yes £1 each. Mainly for wife, daughter and spares dotted around. At that price I thought they would be average and maybe slow but they are amazingly fast and seem to be better than the SanDisk ones I have relied on.

It's hard to imagine how anyopne can make a profit on these items at such ridiculously low prices.

Ref. Cable, I guess a card reader will have to be with me then all the time. Are there any eSATA readers out there yet??? As I got one of those fast plugs on the laptop I may well make use of it.

come out because I use an eSATA external HDD. It's unlikely they

I had a situation where I put a card into the card reader on my laptop and found it was corrupted. I then tried this with several other cards and the same thing happened.
When I put them back into camera and reformatted them they were fine. it turned out the card reader casued all the problems!
Fortunately the pictures on the card were not that important so I didn't lose too much.
I now only ever use the cable to transfer from the camera to the PC.

I don't use the inbuilt card reader on my MacBook Pro - my Readers are either Lexar [ the latest] or Sandisk - never had a problem with any of them and they have been bought from 7DayShop.

Make sure the card reader can read SDHC cards at the very least. There are still plenty of cheap ones around which can't.
I use the card reader on my computer, and the one on my netbook all the time. never a problem. Should one of them pack up I do have a reserve stick reader.
SD cards are designed to be removed from the camera. You should have more than one and rotate them. Having a single card which you never remove increases the chance of it getting corrupted as it wears out I would have thought.

feeBay was a Nada unless I want to run the risk of a Hong Kong third/fourth party one that may or may not fit (as I had before with a couple of other USB items, in particular phones and then discovered that I could have had them the next day from a seller if I would have known what connectors I need.
But I just checked Amazon UK and fell backwards when I saw that a replacement cable of 3feet (that's 91.5cm in my calculation) and they want £16.95 as a special offer 'reduced' from £16.95
Anyone here that can tell me what the connector on the GX10 is called? Ok, before anyone starts with the joke 'it's a USB male', yeah I know that one! I need to know what the 'micro/minni/very small other end connector is. The one that goes in to your GX10.
I never seen a plug this small and as my cable is only just under 2ft I would not mind having a bit longer one as well (if possible).
But what plug am I looking for? Has the Pentax K10D the same small plug?
Anyone can lent me a helping hand here?
