Revamped FA 35mm f/2 rumor

I've seen a rumor that a re-vamped FA 35mm f/2 lens is on it's way. It looks like the only difference will be HD coatings and a slightly changed outer design, but it's possible there are other changes under the hood. The price seems to be around €400, which is not far off what the current one goes for.

Pics on the link below (text in Japanese), below the pics of the DA* 11-18mm:

Personally I feel the design could be a bit more modern but re-vamping the old FA lenses with newer coatings and updated designs is certainly the easiest way to refresh the FF lens line-up. Hopefully some more will follow.

We'll have the DA35 2.4, HD35 2.8 and soon a DFA35 2. None of these quite compete with some other systems. Look at the 35 1.8 from Nikon. It is a decent lens at a good price and it is fast.

I'm not complaining about the difference between 2 and 1.8, more the price!

The Nikon is a cheap 35mm for APS-C ONLY

There's also the Nikon Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S Lens but that's £849 so the Pentax one is actually too cheap.

No idea what your on about, but the Sigma Art is available.

No point in paying extra for f/1.4 most cameras can't see beyond f/1.7 or f/1.8 and the transmission (T-STOP) is usually around f/1.7 anyway...

Strange that Nikon do have 2 AF-S 35 mm 1.8s, the 'cheap' one being APS-C only, the better built FX variant is considerably more expensive. In between I think you can still find the AF-D f2 but this won't work on the cheaper DX bodies. At least with ANY Pentax 35mm it will work on any K-mount body.

Strange lens discussions taking place this week So the 35mm f2 isn't fast enough and should be f1.4 yet the 11-18 f2.8 is too fast and would be better if it was an f4. Mmm. Can't please all of the people all of the time.

To cap it all 35mm is a useless size on FF. Back in the film days the demand was for 28mm-xxmm zooms and 28mm or 24mm primes

28mm can be easily cropped to 35mm on FF or APS-C

I can't remember Vivitar doing a 35mm K mount prime. They did the early 42mm screw mount in 35mm.
