Hi Maria,
I'm sure your camera images (K7?) will be fine up to A3 unless heavily cropped.

Have a look at this. Hopefully it will explain all. It's for Photoshop but I don't think that matters. There is lots of free software to do it. Also if you go onto Google and search for Image Risize there will be plenty of videos I'm sure.

When you resize there are several algorithms that can be used. I believe Photoshop has a choice of four. They will all be appropriate for a different requirement, for example enlarging, reducing. Choose the correct one.
That said, you can leave the number of pixels alone and just change the document size in inches/mm. That will retain te original sharpness.

Resizing is an absolute cinch in Irfanview.

Lot simpler than resizing in Photoshop - just specify the length and it works out the width and will automatically sharpen the image if you wish (just tick the box!)

Thanks for your help everyone, that's a great help, i have irfanview John so i'll have a look, what i don't understand is the actual numbers as they are not given in c.m. inches etc, that's the part i don't understand

In Irfanview, you have the option of clicking on one of three radio buttons next to where it says "Units", which selects the measurement in use. Just click on the the left-most one for measurements in pixels.

The K-5 has a standard output that's approximately A3 in size at 300ppi - for many sales/printing purposes no resizing would need to be done at all. It exceeds the 3000 pixels asked for.

Thank you John that is most helpful and gives me more of an understanding about the ratio of ppi to pixels
