Nice set, 3 and 4 are excellent. Love the light on his head in 3, and great dynamics in 4. Nice to see the bird's back as well, what lovely colours.

Apart from the colouring, the tail outline is a dead give-away.
Of course, we could be expecting a new breed. A Buzzite perhaps

Martyn is spot on Danny, the big budgie on the left is the Buzzard, they are very similar to Kites but are easily dinstinguishable by the tails, the Buzzards is fan shaped and the Kites is forked.
Those crops really show what the Pentax lenses are capable of, and the gimbal head seems to be wrking well for you.
Now not wanting to steal your thread but would you like to see an UNCROPPED image of a red kite? shot a 500mm on the Bigma;

The 1st shot at the start of the thread was UNCROPPED with NO PP!!
This is uncropped at 600mm! Now where's that 'blowing a raspberry' smiley when you need it?!
PS. Had to pull it out of the reject bin to post it! Is that thunder stolen back?!

Ah so....in my defence I have to say mine was spotted as I was driving, two of them low over a field, despite the no stopping white lines I pulled over and fortunately the Bigma was still on the camera (I'd just left and RSPB reserve) I got four shots before they flew off

Nice shots of a beautiful bird.
Despite seeing many, I realise I do not have any Red Kite shots yet, something I intend to remedy this year. In fact, targets for this year are raptors and insects, both of which are in abundance around Tring Reservoirs, my usual weekend haunt. Roll on summer.

Lovely shots. The first and second are my pick. The sky looks a different colour in the 600mm shots?
I would love to try bird photography, but there's not a lot around here, unless I go to a falconry display, which is on the agenda....

It's time I visited the Chilterns - having been born in High Wycombe!
We do get kites in Northamptonshire, although nowhere near as many.
