Recommend somewhere to buy a Sigma 10-20 ?

I've decided I'm adding a bit more wide angle to my existing line-up & am going to buy the Sigma 10-20. I've done quite a lot of browsing around the web & prices seem pretty similar on most UK internet sites (around £320).
I've also considered Onestopdigital (£269) but as Sigma doesn't have the best reputation for quality control I'm playing safe & buying in the UK, some online companies are also stating 3yrs warranty, Microglobe only 12months ?

Does anyone have any views on the best place to buy from - a good returns service may well be useful with the Sigma !!

thanks

I can't recommend a place to buy it but do make sure it is a UK lens, not a grey import as Sigma can be very stroppy about servicing grey imports and lenses you import yourself without paying duties on.

Thanks for the advice Gwyn...

Sigma is currently offering extended 3yr warranty for free on UK sourced stock too...

"Bristol Cameras" look to be the cheapest, anyone used them ?

I would say SRS.

Microglobe have been known to supply grey imports before, I'm sure I remember a member here ended up with one.

Not only that, but Sigma UK HQ is just down the road from SRS and they have a good relationship with them, so that makes a lot of sense if support is important to you.

Devon Camera Centre sold me mine and the service was excellent although the price was perhaps £10 more than the cheapest UK source.

Not for a 10-20, I bought mine from SRS.

But when I needed the 55-300 for Farnborough, sadly Chris couldn't get one at the ridiculously short notice I was giving.

As it happened, Bristol had one, at what would have worked out at the same price as SRS once P&P was taken into account.

It arrived within 48 hours of ordering, appears to be UK stock (well, it has a European warranty card - is that the same thing?), and is absolutely fine AFAICT.

There was a minor glitch with the order, though - I got a phone call the day after, and it was fortunate that my phone number had been written down right, so they could ask me about my CC number which hadn't.

There was a mix-up over an IR remote, too, that I ordered from them before I discovered SRS. I ordered it on the web site, rang them to check that all was Ok, and they said, sorry we're out of stock, we'll contact you when we have some. Then the same day, the remote arrived.

So two times out of two, it turned out Ok, even though it looked like it wasn't going to.

On the basis of these experiences, I think Bristol are Ok, just not quite the most organised.

I bought a Ricoh GR-D from Bristol Cameras back in April. Five days after the confirmation of despatch email it still hadn't shown up so I checked the (DHL?) website to see it marked as "Delivery Refused". I rang the courier who gave me the time they'd attempted delivery and the address they'd gone to - right house number, wrong road. Bristol took full responsibility and were extremely apologetic and made sure it was delivered to the right address by 8am the following day.

I echo what Chris says above; they're OK but not quite the most organised.

I tried to use Bristol cameras for a 18-55mm MKII and after ordering I waited .. and waited .. and waited for delivery. Tried emailing and phoning .. in the end made contact to be told they were out of stock and they would put it on back order. I cancelled.

Wouldnt use them again.

For quality of service, speed of service, peace of mind and of course price, it has to be SRS.

Just give Chris a call.

Completely agree with Hyram.

I have recently purchased a lens from SRS, and the service is perfect.
Bought the lens on the phone on thursday at 9, received it the next day at 11. Incredible.

I then had a little trip to try some other lenses, and enjoyed a long chat with Chris, and the other guys at the store.

Hope this helps!

When I bought the 55-300, I actually felt like a traitor, not buying it from Chris.

Many of the people here (myself included) think they're the best place to get Pentax equipment.

Chris, who works there, and is a member here, is a thoroughly nice chap, and gives excellent service.
