I am considering picking upone of the K5 ii s from Jessops. Is there a better option at the moment. Is one of the newer cameras a better long term option.

Many thanks mm

I can't think of any reason not to buy a new K5iis for £350 ! It's still a current model, and really stands alongside the K3 in many people's opinions as a top of the range model. It's a great price for a great camera.

Tell us a bit more about what you like to shoot, and how you like to take photos, and what are your priorities for a camera. The K5ii is very likely to meet most needs, but it's worth thinking about a little ....only a little mind you, in case that bargain doesn't last !

Are there any left? I couldn'ty see any and that would be a good reason not to buy one.

In fact that would be the ONLY reason not to buy one.

If you need or just want one, at that price there is no reason not to buy......

I'm sure you wouldn't regret it. If the image quality is better than a standard K5 then it must be really something.
Best wishes,

Andrew

It really is a great camera ... I sold my K-3 a while ago and went back to the K-5IIs.

Don't regret it one bit and it's a bargain at that price.

I'll add my recommendation to that, it's a steal at £350. Having said that, I don't think it's quite as good a camera all round as the K-3 (based on 18 months of owning both) , but there's not much in it and at £350 it's a no-brainer.

I wonder how long we will wait until the K3 is 350.00 pounds ? Are we to expect the release of the 'full sized slr' to depress K3 and K3ii sales ... Or will they not be in the same buyer category?

Going back to this particular sale .... The K5ii has hardly run it's course at all ... It's not really what anyone thinks of as 'end of line' .... Many here probably don't even think it has been superceded yet.

Don't buy one buy two - two bodies adds flexibility

More seriously, great camera, great price
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

I resisted, much though I was tempted as I really "wanted" one, because I can't even make decent use of what I have already got!
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

Maybe Sam reserved one yesterday for pickup?

Maybe, but the question then would have been too late.
