Rear sync setting?

If you mean trailing-curtain sync, it is not available on the *ist D or K100D (unless it has been introduced in firmware revisions, which I doubt). However, most modern Pentax flashguns have it, and an AF240T can be had on Ebay for peanuts.
Or buy a K10D.

Watch out for several of my Pentax guns, including a 240 going on Ebay, I'm rationalising and going for a 360. Less of the 'peanuts', George!

Thanks- I have an AF-360FGZ, and I guess it has it on that. I didn't realize what else it could be called.

It does indeed - on the bottom central switch labled 'sync' it is the second position from the left (two triangles folowed by a lightning bolt)
