Cleaned the sensor of my K10D

The first rule of SLRs is never, ever clean the mirror. The mechanism is critical to the correct focusing and is easily put out of adjustment. In normal use, the mirror should not need to be cleaned anyway, even after many years of use. Any specks will have no effect on the image.
The same applies to the focusing screen, which is made of very soft plastic. The screen can be ruined by attempts to clean.
I hope that your cleaning was only by blower brush and not a physical polish.

oops I am another one. I used a lens micro-fibre cloth to clean both the mirror and the focussing screen. Giotto blower on the rest. I do have a very clean K10D now, I just am worried what you write John and all the rules I have broken!
My problem was, my camera had to go back to have the mother-board replaced under guarantee, and when it came back there was dirt on the focussing screen, on the topside. I used my new blower brush and got rid of some dirt until I realized where the rest was. So then I used my micro-fibre cloth. The sensor was cleaned with the Artic Butterfly.
I only managed to get shut of all the dirt with the three methods, cloth, blower and butterfly.

As John so rightly says never ever touch the mirror. On normal mirrors the fairly soft and easily damaged silver coating is behind the glass but in SLRs, to prevent unwanted double images, it is on top. Even a brush can leave an indelible mark

Thanks guys, I will clean with even more care now. To be honest, this is only the second time I have needed to clean the K10D in 8 months - and I only have prime lenses so I change quite frequently.

Just cleaned my mirror, focusing screen and sensor with Visible Dust VDformula+ and Visible Dust Sensorclean.
It works perfect, everything is clean again.
However cleaning the sensor it tilted when the wip reached the right side (seen from the frontside) the sensor seemed to tilt down.
I know the sensor moves in three dimensions (shake reduction).
So I think the tilting of the sensor is normal.
Am I right.
