Really why does Pentax not have an EVIL camera?

In these discussions we sometimes forget that Ricoh are taking over Pentax. Their solution will probably involve the GRX, maybe with K and Q modules.

My LX3 just about fits in my jacket pocket, the NEX 5 with a 16mm pancake depends on the jacket, the D40/K5 even without lenses no way, doubt the kx/kr have any better chance.

I am just being selfish really I just want a K-5 in the size of the NEX that's all

GXR might work too actually as long as we can slap some nice limited love on to them!

Hmm I see you have removed the line in that post related to you not talking about the Kx - since you were the one that introduced the Kx into the thread (see above) and it's size in relation to the NEX 5N ! And the relative sizes was completely my point in response to your post.

It's still much smaller and of course the whole point of the adapters is that you can use virtually 90% of any lenses ever made on the camera. As I said it's about 'pocketability' - easily possible with the NEX but not feasible with the Kr/Kx cameras.

Sorry I don't understand your meaning .. because that is exactly what the NEX is.

There is a lot of debate as to what sector of the market the Q is targeting. Maybe Ricoh came in too late to stop it's launch before they had a chance to redesign it or go in another direction or update/amend the GXR. Ricoh are as large as Canon (or larger) so there's nothing to stop them launching a line of MILCs along the lines of the NEX and continuing with the Q if they wish, or quietly dropping it if they don't or if it's not a commercial success outside of Japan.

Ricoh already market small sensor modules for the GRX, I can see them interested in an imterchangeable lens version, which is where the Q line fits in.

Those modules are surprisingly expensive though at GBP 200-350 each over here (no idea what they are in the UK).

In comparison the adapters for the NEX cost US$20 - 40 each.

Sorry if in this and the other thread I come across as a Sony NEX fanboy - I'm not honest ! However I am excited at this new product and how it can be used and believe that in the NEX 7 and 5N Sony have set the benchmarks for this sector.

No, I like the look of the NEX too. But from Ricoh's perspective, the GRX is clearly moving away from 'lensors' to modules with a lens mount. People who want to compromise on quality for compactness can get the Q module, people who want to compromise on compactness for quality (or just want a backup to their Pentax DSLR) can get the K module. If you can't make your mind up, get both. Might work.

Yes i introduced the Kx but i never compared it to the Nex.

If Pentax/Ricoh came out with something like the X100 with interchangeable lenses, and a pancake 24mm f2 lens as a k mount kit lens, I would not be able to resist...the only thing that has stopped me buying an X100 is the fixed lens.
