Lids getting heavy despite England going 2-0 up (this Broadband thing is a revelation - was in the stone age in Ethiopia). Now almost 1am here. Better get to bed. Will check in the morning to see if anyone can get to the bottom of this.
Thanks for the assistance so far.

That should be enough. I wonder if your graphics card isn't getting the resources it needs? It's a really hard thing to iron out without seeing the machine.
You can check the version of PSP by clicking Help->about. Check that you are on 12.50.
Do you have Windows automatic updates turned on?

Hi Andrew,
I have got 4 GB of RAM, and my virtual memory is set by default on 3365 MB. I think you have found the problem, if you have a RAM of 3 GB.
I tried to reproduce the problem, but I couldn't get the warning. It just saved everything I wanted. Even HUGE 16 Bit Tiff files. (300% interpolated)
Martin.

Morning all. Actually, it's afternoon now but let's not be pedantic.
Right, I've examined various possibilities. First, I went into Windows Systems Properties. Like yours Martin, mine is default set at 3365 MB. However, I don't think this is the problem, as in the 'Total paging file size for all drives' the recommended size is 4597 MB. Apparently the optimum is for some reason larger than the RAM (saw reference to this last night somewhere). So I tried to custom set it to the recommended setting of 4597. Once I'd done this, for some reason it reverted to 3365, even thouh I'd pressed Set and closed the box. So I gave up pursuing this and went to PSP.
Turns out I have version 12.01, but I don't think that's the problem either. Looking at the System Information, under 'Memory/Drive Status', the the Avilable Paging Memory and the Total Paging Memory are both set at 4 MB. As this is in excess of the default windows setting this looks a likely source of the problem, no?!
So perhaps 'all' I have to do is adjust the PSP preferences. Have attempted to find out how to do this with no joy so far. Any suggestions much appreciated.
Got to go out now, but will try again later...

Sounds plausible, but actually you're wrong. There's no Apple version of PSP. Buy a 24" iMac!

Was going to get a Macbook (instead of this Samsung) when in the UK recently. But in the end this was what made me decide not to (though other factors played a part too).

This reminds me of an episode of the Likely Lads, the excellent 70s sitcom, when Terry and Bob (the main characters) try to avoid news of the result from a Newcastle match before they watch it on Match of the Day. They spend the whole day wandering round Newcastle trying to avoid their mates - one of whom is pursuing them. It's kind of dated but still very funny. Won't spoil the ending by telling you what happens!

Ah, it was just a tongue in cheek remark, I have little enough to shout about ) Although I didn't realise you were wedded to PSP.There's no Apple version of PSP
I wouldn't really recommend a Mac to most people - all the good things that Apple Mac started have migrated to PC and now all that's left is really well made hardware with almost no crashing or compatibility issues.... And no more reliance on bloody Microsoft. (that alone was enough for me to return to the fold).
Incidentally, the whole system will go under your arm with just one power cord. It's almost a laptop. I bought it partly to schmoose my customers when I'm demonstrating - it looks gorgeous and the screen is to die for. But ultimately, the clincher was getting away from Windows. yey!

Heheh it's all good, I was just joking. In any case after reading your comment I think I had subconsciously decided it was going to be a 2-0 win, with England scoring late in the game (based on your post time of 10:22). So when the highlights got to 18 minutes and they scored No. 2 I was on the edge of my seat again waiting to see what would happen! What a great game thoughton wrote:

Also not to be pedantic (ok, maybe it is pedantic ), but you could run PSP on a Mac, either natively in Windows+Boot Camp or virtualised in VMWare or Parallels (to name but a couple of the options).

Now try running PSP X2 in Win XP compatibility mode.
If that doesn't work I suggest you uninstall the programme and reinstall it.
