Re-sizing images

First of all, check the available space left on your hard disk.
Than check under preferences of PSP the amount of memory assigned to working files. Ideally this should equal half or 2/3 of your RAM memory.
Hope this helps,
Martin.

Cheers, Martin. I've looked at this on my computer but it's still not any clearer.
I have 120gb free disk space - which must be plenty. Meanwhile, in PSP General Preferences I ticked the box to turn on 'Limit redo/undo disk usage to 500mb per open image' (my RAM is 3gb, so this should be okay) but I'm still getting the same message when I try to re-size.

I'll download the trial version and try it out. Be back asap.

I don't think you should tick that box. It will actually limit the amount of space.
If you have 3GB of RAM that should be loads. Can you tell us what software you are running (Windows version), anti virus, etc? Are you opening JPEGs, PEFs or DNGs?

OK.
Begin by defragmenting and checking your hard drive and run a full virus check. Then check your virtual memory settings.
Do you have any idea what graphics card you have?

Chances are your virtual memory setting is not right for your machine. You need to set your paging file (virtual memory)to be at least equal to the amount of physical ram in the machine I.E. 3Gb.
In Win XP, this is accessed by looking at My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Settings (Performance) > Advanced
I'm sure it'll be similar in Vista. If not, search help for paging file.
Another thought, you could try running your prog in WinXP compatibility mode. Right click the .exe file or icon > Properties > Compatibility and set it accordingly.

I scanned earlier this evening and didn't find any viruses. Meanwhile, the computer's only a month or so old. Do you reckon I need to defrag
already?
My Graphics card is the nVIDIA Ge Force 105m.
My suspicion is that it's not something wrong with this computer - PSP did this with my old computer too.

OK, sounds odd. I'm running PSP and do not get any issues. Are you running X2 on the most recent version (12.50)?

If it's not on the desktop it's normally in the start menu (on the right hand side).

However, I am having problems re-sizing my images so that they meet the 800 pixel limit for the fortnightly comp. I work with Paint Shop Pro X2, and ever since I got it I haven't managed to re-size images in this programme. When I try to do so it comes up with the following message:
'Not enough memory for this operation; close one or more applications and try again. If this does not correct the problem, you may need to adjust your memory settings or work on a smaller document.'
Closing applications makes no difference; and I don't think the size of the file does either, as I can re-size the same file using Microsoft Office Picture Manager. So that leaves me with adjusting memory settings, but I have no idea what to do. I have a hunch the solution is simple, but am currently clueless.
Any advice much appreciated.
