Emma - I think the light wasn't ideal and that they all need some help in PP to make them a bit more dynamic.
Personally I think number 1 is too flat, number 2 is way too dark with no obvious benefits, number 3 if you like that sort of thing then OK, number 4 is the best of the group but do I see some sensor dust, number 5 again needs some help to lift it. Also the way the motorway peeps through the reeds isn't very appealing.
I think they all show you have an eye for composition as they do all have structure and intent.

Interesting shots, Emma. Looks like an amazing place, not unlike our own dear Somerset Levels. Good strong structure in each of them.
The last one would look stronger with a contrasty mono conversion. The lines lead in very effectively but the light's very flat.
Like the teasle very much: good focusing.
No.2 has potential because of the reeds and the mottled sky: dodge and burn, Emma, dodge and burn!

I would say they have more go in them but you seem to have a boundary between the grasses and the sky while the heads of the grasses remain unduly dark.
I think the last one has drawn more from the original but I fear that given the light you were working with it's not an easy task. By and large I try to avoid that sort of situation but I know some members here can work wonders in PP.
It is a pretty dead sky really so if you work that up you'll probably end up with some odd effects. I'm not really the guy to offer advice here but Elements should do what you need.
I started with SilkyPix which applies adjustments to the whole image but it taught me how adjustments worked and in what way. How what was good in one place didn't help in another.
I think just plugging away at it and tinkering will get you there in the end along with asking very specific questions here - like how can I get more from this sky?

Flat light is always a killer, some inroads can be made I think but there are always sacrifices along the way. I can't give any specific pointers as I am not familiar with elements, but I'd say you need to lift colour & contrast & bring out a warmer feel to accompany the vegetation.
I've had a quick play Emma, just to illustrate. I hope you don't mind.

What I will say though, is read up a little on technique. This shot says it was taken at 1/4000 of a sec at f3.5 & iso800.
Lowering the iso would have resulted in a cleaner image.
Increasing the f stop to say f8 at least would have given a sharper image & you would still have had a good enough shutter speed to avoid blur from camera shake.

OK Thankyou Bob. I dont mind anyone having a play with my pics as i said it shows me what could be done. With regards to F stops etc I still learning about all that so just practicing with them all and seeing what happens.
