Correct me if I'm wrong, but is'nt a second EVIL system with APS-C K Mount in development? I'm sure I read it somewhere...

The rumours were that Pentax would unveil a small-sensored mirrorless camera in summer followed by an APSC model in autumn. Turned out the first part of the rumour was true, so it seems quite possible the second part will be true also.

Personally I don't think the second mirrorless model will aspire to be particularly small compared to the competition. I think they'll just use the K-mount and make an EVIL version of the Kr, a bit smaller, quite a lot cheaper, better for video.

I'd still be very much interested in it. I'm hoping we finally see a digital counterpart in form factor to the classic 35mm bodies. If not, Pentax have really missed a trick.

An evil with a K mount would not be much smaller then the Km or Kx, so i miss the point of that...
The whole idea of EVIL is that you don't need the mirror so it's a bit pointless to be keeping that room where the mirror was...

It would be slightly smaller. But the main benefits are it would be cheaper (or at least have a bigger profit margin for Pentax :wink... and it would be much better for video, sports (no mirror blackout), even manual focusing would be easier with 'peaking' or with some sort of 'virtual split focus' or a zoomed portion of the centre of image.

Apart from being able to use K-mount lenses, another benefit of staying relatively big (compared to Sony NEX et al - it would still be smaller than a Kr) is that the body will be better balanced on zoom lenses.

My thinking is that it is unlikely Pentax will introduce a fourth lens line (645, Q, K, ...K2?). Although with Ricoh at the controls, who knows!

Only if it has an EVF maybe but if it doesn't then just put your camera on liveview and tada you've an evil camera.

How much cheaper will it be because that's the whole point of that evil camera you're speculating about if it's comes close to the Price of a Kx then i doubt it will work.

I have a digital subscription to American Photo, and it was nice to see such a positive article about the Q. Jonathan Barkey was obviously very impressed with the build quality and features. He did say "We'll be interested to see if they've achieved a jump in quality or if the Q's output will be more like that of premium compacts compacts like the Canon G12 or Panasonic LX5.

They quoted a price of $800 with a 47mm lens, which works out at about £485. No doubt it will cost a fair bit more in the UK.

The only adaptor I would want would be to attach to System 110 lenses! And that is only because I have them all except the 18mm Pan focus!

What would people pay for this camera? Personally I would peek at £300!

The 110 lenses would be wonderfull on it.

It has a magnesium body, build in SR and a large LCD so it's certainly more then your avereage camera.

$800 is the qupted price but it's without taxes.
So near the £600 is most likely, street price will probably be 10% lower so £549 is my guess.

I might pay that much if it's a nice camera to use if not then i won't even consider buying it.

As I said in another thread the Q is trying to be a camera line of its own. I don't think there is any intention by anyone at Pentax to compete with NEX/m4/3 with this camera at all. It is just a new type of product.

So as a niche product its price and indeed its future will be determined through demand. It is not an alternative to anything on the market, just a new take on picture taking!

Forogt to say something about the Lens which has a build in shutter and ND filter.

I think some of these points are over looked when they look at the price, it's not all about the sensor...
