I would be rather miffed if I had splashed out £600 quite recently. But this is now sensible and tempting. Tough choice between the Q and a very good current deal on a Panny GF3. Not that tough actually as I can't afford either at the moment. Hopefully now the Q will start selling and there may be some good used deals around in the not too distant.

I had been on the lookout for a compact camera for the family but wanted one that could shoot RAW as well. Since I have got to know of the adapter, I am waiting to get the Q and get the family to use a kit lens while I can use the other lenses that I have.

I do worry about the crop factor - not sure how small the sensor on the Q is, compared to the K5's.

Thanks for the link.
The K-5 has a 1.5x crop factor and the Q has a 5.5x crop factor. Not useful for wide angle shots, but certainly very useful for extreme telephoto shots.

The concern for me was that the Q's much smaller, more pixel-dense sensor would exceed the resolution of K mount lenses.
However I've seen images from the DA*300mm and the Q cropped to 100%, which looked OK, and also suggests that the sensors in cameras like the K5 aren't yet out-resolving our best lenses.

That's a very interesting point. I wonder how it performs for macro and telephoto. It would be interesting to see some wildlife shots to see how it performs. That would definitely sway me over the Panasonic.

You can now get an adapter for Pentax 110 lenses, now I'm really tempted!
