Why? Is your command of the English language so poor that you need to use profanity to get your point across?

People have been banned for using words out of that book.
Seriously, the language changes, and even if you want to argue over what words are acceptable, you'll then have a forum to open up debate on which images are acceptable as some wi probably try to push boundaries that edge towards nudity to pornography.
I don't think you have to agree with the moderators policies.... but people that strongly disagree have the option of leaving and starting their own forum.
I'm for having an adult section. I think that as an individual, I come from a disadvantaged background, grew up in some mean streets and while kind and generous by nature, I am a little rough around the edges.
Be a shock for somebody to get to know me on a "Moderated" forum and meet up in person and find out I don't talk as politely as I type.
to quote Maroni from "Johnny Dangerously":

You dirty fargin'cork sorking icicles! I'mma gonna nail'a you boils to the farggin wall, You bastages!
Not a single real bad word there. You dirty fargin'cork sorking icicles! I'mma gonna nail'a you boils to the farggin wall, You bastages!
Moderate that.

Words considered by some to be 'profane' have their uses and the usage of them doesn't exclusively indicate a poor command of language.
But oh I forgot. Nudity and profane words can kill children.

If you have just nailed your hand to the bench then by all means drop the F bomb.
The need to use one while discussing is symptomatic of poor use of language.
If "snobbery" is a like of doing things properly, then I plead guilty.
(By the way starting a sentence with "but" is wrong.:wink

"regard for the majority" - being part of a majority allows no one any increased deservedness of respect over anyone in a minority
Appeal to Popularity is one of my favourite logical fallacies.

TBH as much as I appreciate and may even tend to agree with TT in parts, I do not really see it as necessary to have a 'private area'.
I know of the power the internet can be and I did not use this forum for these purpose but I needed a vent last night and I knew that quite a few may have an interest in a case like this.
However I also know that I would never post any sensitive information as this could backfire on me badly.
I keep everyone informed of how things are progressing but I have to keep things vague for the time being.
Any outcome will be posted unless I will be advised not to do so. My solicitor is great and I had already lots of discussions via the phone with him and he knows of the tread.
I know the idea of a 'private' area may come from the tread but really it would be not 'private' as everyone can just register and then carry on snooping about.
A 'private' area may even have a backwards effect as members may think because it is 'private' it may just be a bit more aggressive in there and that would really take away the 'family' here.
Like I say, no matter what, I will keep all of you updated as far as I can disclose 'things'. Most will probably anyway in the public domain already and it just may be links that not this well known to deal with problems like this.

OK Mr pants - why do you have to use profanity here?
1/. It's the only way you can express yourself.
2/. You are indulging in some inverse snobbery where it is considered clever to be less than clever.
3/. You wish to come across as unpleasant and rude and offend people? (Your username speaks volumes on this count.)
Please explain.

In response to the Original post, there is already a private way to lend support if required.
Send a PM.
This remains between you and the receiver and avoids anyone joining the forum for a nose...
My thought are with Bernard, and I hope he gets this outrageous situation suitably cleared up, but I fail to see how going over it continuously will do anything to help him get it sorted - and could just make it more awkward.

There's a certain straw man element to your post. i.e you start by asking why I have to use profanity here. Well I neither publish profanity here or have asked to use profanity here. I respect the rules here.

Well this is clearly not true so I'm not sure what motivated you to make that statement. 1/. It's the only way you can express yourself.

Ahhh, a personal attack on my username. But then the assert link between my username and some alleged wish to come across as "unpleasant and rude and offend people?" doesn't make any sense. I doubt many people would assert that the use of a light hearted comedic Red Dwarf'esque 'bit of fun' username like Smeggypants would be an indication that the user would have any agenda to be "unpleasant and rude and offend people".3/. You wish to come across as unpleasant and rude and offend people? (Your username speaks volumes on this count.)
I think your post says an awful lot about yourself to be honest. It's one thing respecting the rules of an establishment, but it's another thing to look down upon those who choose to use a wider palette of shades to their language.

Reading between the lines it doesn’t take much imagination to guess what sort of investigation the poster got himself entangled in. Ordinarily these types of operations must by definition be held confidential; they are rightly outside the scope of public scrutiny and likely also conventional forms of executive branch oversight.
This is to a large extent predicated on the public’s trust that the officers so employed are skilled and work diligently behind the scenes, but here we lean that they appear more akin to oafish, blundering thugs. This is hardly reassuring, and something I would have thought certainly not in the public interest to hush up.

Mr Pants
You've got me wrong .
The Members only area I would like to see would not be as a place where we can let rip with language not fit for innocent ears to hear , nor would it be an area where we can call people [ not matter what their job is ] nasty names.
It would be a safe haven where in time of need [ as in this case ] a member could post asking for advice as to how to handle a situation like this .
