If that is so then all colour management would be pointless. The profiling makes sure that, say, RGB(255,0,0) looks as intended on all the monitors that are profiled. Thus on calibrated monitors/PCs the image looks absolutely equal. (I do appreciate, though, that there might be still minute differences.)

I think that no one in this thread said that it wouldn't work as well in CMYK. The only thing that has been said is that it is an unnecessary step to convert in CMYK. It does work (as you know).Quote:

The result is not unknown as in the process of profiling all components of your system you have ascertained that the printer puts out exactly the colours you see on the monitor. Thus all corrections you make on your PC/monitor are printed in the same way on your paper.Of course the HW must do the JOB ..... but it is a slave not the commander. Well, I do use AdobeRGB in camera as it is the slightly bigger colour space and gives more leeway in post processing. Also JPG only gives 8 bit so some of the inherent dynamic of the camera is lost when using 8 bit files.I answer above. In printing you have to control 3 HWs.

Exactly. And if you have a colour managed system then it is taking care of that. You send your image in whatever colour space it is coded in and the colour management system takes care that it is interpreted by the printer in the right way.The problems is the step between the Monitor (PC) and the printer. Edit: Forgot to add: And this means that the output is not foreseeable when sending it to a print service, even if that service is using proper colour management.
As I said earlier, as long as it works for you it's fine. For the rest of us it works without a conversion to CMYK.

I could say none ....
If I leave part of the workflow to the hardware It will be the hardware image not the mine.
Of course the HW must do the JOB ..... but it is a slave not the commander. If my printer will choose a different nuance from the mine in my mind , why spending time on PS modifying Curves and levels for an unknown result. It's better print directly from the SD card. If you are like everything is correct otherwise you will have a buddhist monk dressed in yellow.
Transforming bytes in drops is a mechanical problem and is the hardware job.

I want to control the process otherwise it is not my image. And even in your case. When you print your images the results will be a mixing between your head and you printer. Not something born completely from you.
