I use an HP Photosmart C7180. Had a bit of trouble sorting out the colour space, but now fine. Ink cartridges, six in all, are the major expense. It does not like remades. Up to A4 it does a reasonable job. If I ever get a photo I am proud of Then I would use a print shop and maybe go to A3. To date nothing meets the criteria
I like the instant results, as do the grandchildren. Some go up on my office wall and serve to remind me 'Could do Better!'
I have also been able to scan, edit and enlarge some old B&W family photographs of weddings and groups 1910. I am an amateur, so can afford the luxury of playing about, its all part of the good fun.

Well first of all thanks Amin and Carl, I print my photo using my 65 pounds Hp Photosmart and I have to say is pretty good, I normally buy Hp paper, and when I have to replace the ink, I buy the set ( 6 in total ) that cost 35 pounds. I have never thought about the cost, if is cheaper using for esample Costco or print it at home, but I have to say that is a nice feeling when you see the photo coming out the printer and see the result.
I `ll probably go to costco and see if is any better.
Thanks Claudio
No problem you are more than welcome, regards

I am assuming that there must be quite a difference in paper quality between matte or satin photo paper and the high quality Ar paper. Perhaps someone more experienced could clarify this.
And organicimagery, before you jump with your guns again blazing and start calling me names read my comment and take it literally rather than trying to extract innuendos out of it. And next time you want to use vulgarity and deteriorate the quality of the thread take it on PM so I can reply to your childish attitudes accordingly. I refuse to do it here and ruin the forum environment. We have had a few of those around lately, and that has been enough
Great to see you now taking the moral high ground, well done! i have pmd you so you can give me an explanation of the comment, and by the way the word ass is not a vulgarity it is a word for a donkey, And next time you want to deteriorate the quality of the thread take it on PM so I can reply to your childish attitude accordingly. I refuse to do it here. Think its called calling the kettle black

PS post crossed with amin's. I reckon my A4 cost is about a pound without the cost of the printer. Canon must be clever to get an A3 print on their paper using their inks for £2, but of course they are very clever!
Mike, I am not sure about the other papers, but the ones they state that costs under £2 is calculated with their top of the range Art Paper. These ones if I have them printed at my printers cost me £12.50 plus delivery. And they were the cheapest I could find around after searching. Finally I was recommended by Paul Lucas and I got them to print my A2 and A1 sizes.PS post crossed with amin's. I reckon my A4 cost is about a pound without the cost of the printer. I have been told that the epson r285 is good for photo printing at home, however i have never tried it i think that its the general rule though (certinley in my computer shop) that people go for canon or hp with genuine ink and paper for there prints

I know very well what ass stands for and that's precisely why I didn't like it. So you think you can go around calling other people donkey and that is all ok with you?and by the way the word ass is not a vulgarity it is a word for a donkey
As far as I can see there was nothing in my comment to justify such an attitude from you. Perhaps you should curb your language and learn to be more polite so that you don't insult other people.

Carl, let's put the issue to rest. Maybe it was still the effects of the smoke puffs I had last night that got me reacted the way I did with the term smart ass . I think we both had our wires crossed, you thinking I was being too sarcastic with my comments and me not being that sarcastic perhaps .
Gary, its safe now, kick start the next topic and I will go have a cup of tea as suggested by our respected Mod first and then comment on it .
Dan, do you think its safe for me to go wandering around bridges in London after a cup of tea?

I am definitely taking my hiviz jacket, don't want to be caught with the DSLR on a tripod hanging over my shoulder. Perhaps I should write also with big luminous letters Pentax forum member and put the URL on it

I don't often print photos, my main display mechanism is my TV via my AppleTV and a couple of small digital frames, but when I do print photos at home I only expect them to last a year or so before unacceptable fading sets in (I don't use anything unusual, just standard canon ink on photo paper). Are you guy using special ink or something to stop it fading? Or are you guys using a printing technology other than ink jet?
