Practical Photography KS2 Review

I subscribe to this mag and sent a really long mail to the editor about why I would not be renewing and lo and behold they then review a Pentax camera 2 issues later..
And boy have they slated it.
Having used the camera for some time it was like reading a review of a different camera!
Can't say I'm surprised as their Niton bias is incredible.
But to have the K'S 2 miles behind the Nikon D5500i s scandalous...
Can't wait to see their slating off the K3 ii ...

Perhaps they should rebrand as Nikon monthly!

Without a copy and paste, what aspects did they declare the K-S2 being miles behind in?

Amateur Photographer (23 May issue) promises a three way comparison of KS1 with Canon EOS 1200D and Nikon D3300. It will be interesting to see how impartial or parisan that is. Hope to get my copy today so further comment may follow.

Also in their sister mag. Digital Photo but by a different reviewer with a slightly different outcome.

Both mags are rubbish,biased beyond belief

the only mag that dose any thing on pentax seems to be amater photographer
they have already had a piece on the k3ii and that was at the begining of may

oh and they have an insurance service and what do they use for there photo

It comes out pretty strongly for the Pentax K-S1 - better made, better specified.

and i also notice they are not shy at awnsering there readers Q about pentax

Without quoting the whole final verdict from the Digital Photo test, the final line says:

".... For these reasons, the K-S2 is a very impressive camera"

I think it is a VERY favourable review.

I agree that the 2 mags. tend to be Canikon biased to a certain extent. BUT there again you seem to me to be VERY biased towards Pentax. I'm a Pentax enthusiast through and through and I say live and let live. All cameras have their pros & cons. If TIPA can give a piece of photographic equipment an award then I read the independent reviews with the thought that many people have many different views and ideas.
See Dangie above. He has the right attitude to independant reports.

The only one of these magazines worth buying occasionally is Amateur Photographer. The rest are really only advertising vehicles for Nikon/Canon. I stopped buying them a long time ago because of the standard of the reviews and the preponderance of rehashed articles where the cameras used are always Nikon/Canon. The phrase "the controls of the Pentax are not intuitive" in relation to the K5 did it for me. Of course they are not intuitive, if you only every use a Canon.

If I may deviate slightly from the original topic, one particular test the monthly magazines seem to like are lens tests, where lenses from Nikon, Canon, Sony, Pentax, Olympus are compared to each other.

What is the point...??

No matter what the result, if you are a Nikon user you won't buy a Canon lens even if it tests better. The same goes for all the other lenses. You buy the lens for your camera.

Absolutely, a useless comment for a review. I recently borrowed a Nikon D700- couldn't work out the controls at all without reading the manual....I have used 35mm ad MF SLRs and TLRs since 1971, DSLRs since 2007, but only Pentax of the latter, so the controls and menu's are second nature....but Nikon, Holy Cow!

Anyway, configurable twin control wheels so you can have aperture, shutter speed ISO, exposure comp wherever you want it, what is not intuitive about that???
