My choice isn't on the list...
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.
Apparently.

Having been to the NPG and Hamiltons last week (it feels like a lifetime ago), I'd have liked Irving Penn just to see where he had the light, just how he regulated it, what his cameras was. Actually I wanted a bunch of my favourite photographers on your list, but its your list! Sooooo as he's not on the list. Karsh please.
I'd like to see the way he works and ask about Churchill and Einstein amongst others.

Lurking is shirking.!

I hate having my photo taken (that's why I always stand *behind* the camera) but if I had a gun to my head then Annie Leibowitz I guess - quite like the one she did of the Queen and I figure that with her current financial problems she'd be cheap.

I have gone for Karsch, although clearly they are all excellent in their different ways. I like Karsch's classic monochrome work, and the way he managed to show something of the person without being too cliched about it.

Ooo! thats a difficult one Ken, especially as I dont like having my mug snapped
I think it would have to be someone with a Pentax from Scotland...
Hang on a minute, he's done it once already
PS I did answer the poll but I'm not telling

I would have liked Julia Margaret Cameron, but in her absence chose someone else.
Best regards, John

Linda Macartney for me, I love her portraits & the simple way she worked. Just chatting holding the camera at waist level clicking away.
But sticking to the list gotta love Baileys portraits, the Krays portrait is one of my favourites.

Linda McCartney for me too, although, like a few in the list, she'd have to come back from the dead to do it.
Otherwise it's a toss up between Jane Bown and Annie Liebowitz.

I have a dislike of being photographed and I am out of my comfort zone photographing people, my staff photo being updated this week was painful enough. So if someone thought my face looks lived in enough for a character shot it would probably have to be Annie Leibowitz. I watched a documentary about her last year and felt that she had the ability to blend into the background, putting the subject at ease.

It was still a challenge for me, partially why I like Whitby Goth weekend, so many exhibitionists in one place the ground work is already done
