Ok this is my review,
I just got my little Pentax Optio S1 in Chrome, and I must say its not bad at all so cant go out as its raining so did some flower shots on the Macro setting on camera.

This little member of the pentax family not only looks good but feels good very compact,to go in any pocket light weight and has some great settings in the camera, its got 14 mega pixels 5x optical zoom 28mm wide shake reduction a 2.7 lcd screen, face detection, and last but not lest 16.9 wide HD Movie, and all for £69.00 what a little Cracker.

and it comes with its own software that’s good and easy to use, you can also use the software on any photo, from any camera? For a point and shoot camera and at that price its great.

Its ideal for popping in your pocket and go anywhere.

So heres some of the photos.

Compavts are great for close up images and you've done a nice job with these.

I've moved the thread into the Optio section.

Pretty impressive for £69 Shaun, like you I hate flash and the natural light looks great on these.

Shaun, I'm looking for a Pentax compact but the reviews are generally discouraging with lots of ugly noise and/or a lack of detail above 100ASA. These shots are lovely.

Does the S1 come with a proper charger which is plugged into a 13 amp socket or do you have to use a computer USB? If it's the latter then it's no use for travelling.
Best wishes,

Andrew

All the Pentax compacts come with a charger.

Reviews are fine up to a point, but always the persepctive depends upon many other factors than being able to compete with A DSLR. There are not many compacts that deliver DSLR quality, but for wen use there are lots that deliver perfectly good images. Some print well also.

I'm happy with all the Pentax compacts I have tried, including the RS1000, I-10, W90, Z750, X90, T30, and many more.....

It's not as easy to make fine images, but with care they are excellent.
Best regards, John

Had a quick go no real lighting just poor house lighting just to see how it copes with that? So here is a still life done with no flash by the Optio S1 point and shoot

Thanks very much for all of this, folks. Most interesting, particularly the video where the girl polished his BMW in her knickers then posed for some shots. Mrs C. would never consent to her wiping a damp chamois over the Z3...

Now, the camera. I'm almost sold on the idea after seeing Shaun's pictures and hearing that Jessops have a black one for £50.00. Very tempting... That's one tankful of unleaded. And it would take up a lot less space in a suitcase than the K10.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Tempted too, even though I don't really need one but I got £50 of Jessops vouchers for Christmas and can't find anything else to spend them on.
