Out of stock in Jessops, so all that was a waste of time!
Best wishes,

Andrew

Every so often I get it into my head that I want a compact, and naturally I incline towards Pentax particularly as it would allow me to post images to this forum ;P

But I go through the same thought process every time, after comparing dozens of image samples online. The Pentax images are always extremely oversharpened and noisy, with lots of compression artefacts. Canon compacts seem to produce smoother images which look more natural - even their cheap cameras seems miles better. And then you have cameras like the S95 are better still. But scrutinising the images really closely, even the best compacts (including the Q!) aren't exactly perfect.

At 800px, the images would be fine, however. But then again, so would the Pentax images which looked so bad close up. As we can see here with Shaun's excellent shots. So I think 'Hmm maybe the Pentax is actually the way to go after all'. But what always stops me pulling the trigger is the fact that if I resize my phonecam pictures to 800px, they're also actually pretty usable. And if I need better quality, there's the K7. So I conclude I do not need a compact camera!

Well I've succumbed, s95 enroute. Nothing in the Pentax stable for me. I would really have loved the Fuji x10 but it has a sensor issue. Given CES in January will reveal a plethora of wonderful new cameras I know I should hold off. Her nibs has got herself a Nex-5, so I hope I can borrow it

I want Pentax to mirror the technical effort put into the DSLRs and make a decent p&s. I hear talk of a 1" sensor appearing. I'd love a 24-140mm f2 -f4 manual zoom with a 1" sensor. Jacket pocketable. rrp 500 street 400.
Lurking is shirking.!
