Pictures from Caithness

I was working in Caithness last week, and in between the heavy showers the sun made fleeting appearances.

The sky was very dramatic at times and I risked the camera outside even with the heavy showers about to drop on Thurso and John'O Groats, the lighting was harsh, and it seemed prudent to bracket the exposures.
Just thought I would share a few with you.

















No.1 & 4 with the FA50 f1:1.4 the others with the 10-17mm fisheye.

Mmmmmmm! Going to be in Scotland (near Edinburgh) for a few days later in the week, can't wait.

Great skies. #2 looks like it could be from the American Midwest - praries, farmland, and storms...they don't call it "Tornado Alley" for nothin'.

Parts of Caithness are quite flat compared to other parts of Scotland, I always feel my eyesight improves when I go there, but it's just that I can see to the horizon with no hills in the way !!!

Perhaps the clear clean air helps vision as well?

You could be right John, fresh and clean up there.

The coastline from Thurso round to Wick and down to the Moray firth, has been used to land fish for years and years, and I have travelled up and down this coast for the last 20 'odd' years, yet I discovered last week, three old harbours that I didn't know existed. I took nearly 700 images the week I was in Caithness, a lot were just at different exposures, but I know now, how Clint Eastwood feels with his finger on the trigger !!!!

I could have ended up with 5000 shots if I had a Can-ikon, with the 6-9 fps, and no time to process them, I love my K10D.

I would like a K20, but I don't think I've out-grown the K10 yet, may miss the option K20 and see if a K30 comes out next year, no hurry for me, to be honest.

In-fact I have trouble getting the 10-17mm fisheye off the K10, the combination still amazes me.
