Photoshop

Hi All

I've been playing with Photoshop (v7) and when I try to save I am limited to .PSD; .EPS; .PDF; RAW

I cannot save as a .JPG

Any ideas on how to get around this would be most welcome

So far I have opened a JPG; Select-All; Image-Mode-Greyscale; Edit-Adjust-Brightness/Contrast; Image-Duotone (selected brown to intoduce a sepia tinge); Save as...............see above

Sounds like your trying to save a 16bit image, goto "mode" "adjustments" and make sure that the "8bits" box is ticked. You should then have the save as jpeg option in the drop down menu when saving.

Ok the best way I think is to go to file and click on save as, when the box opens look at where it says file name there is another box called format! click on the other little arrow on the right hand side and when the box drops down click on Jpeg and that should work. you must name your file and I would save to desktop.
Save your work this way, as when you have finished using photo shop, it will ask do you want to save say no as long as you have save as it should be fine! I really hope that helps if not I don’t know lol

Thanks for the suggestions guys but sorry neither of those suggestions works.

The 8 bit is already ticked

File-Save As- Format doesn't include JPG - therein is the problem

Are you working in RGB? If you are in CMYK or Lab then you won't save as a JPEG.

JPG started off as RGB
I changed it to Greyscale
Then changed to Duotone as it was the only way I could find to emulate sepia

This is the state its in now

Are you trying to save the file with the editing layers open? or have you flattened the image?

Query -or have you flattened the image?

I haven't done anything with that title - how do I do that?

I've found Flatten at the bottom of the Layers tab - all greyed out so can't get at it

Change it back to RGB from Duo Tone

No need to select all at the start.

In my version of Photoshop you have to click 'Save for web & devices'.

Have to Shaky? That's a new one on me. Save As keeps the EXIF data. Save For Web doesn't, but it does have other conveniences.

It sounds like a cut down version that came with a camera and not everything is functional. I got a similar version with either a Nikon 600 or 700 although mine did Jpeg, but not some of the other formats. Yours might have come with a scanner.

There was also an upgrade to v7.0 which fixed a few bugs.

No he just needs to change back to RGB mode as DOIK has already said

Hi guys,
Sorry for apparent lack of response- I'v been away for most of the weekend.

Ok reloaded the PSD file and changed it back to RGB then was able to save as JPG

Thanks to all involved for your trouble - I knew someone would be able to put me right.

Incidentally - not a cut down version (as far as I know) - was bought in original box from a charity shop for a few pounds.
