[headline]Photographing through prison van windows[/headline]

BBC News has just shown the prison van with darkened windows taking Chris Huhne's wife into Holloway prison. As is usual with prison vans containing newsworthy people, there's the photojournalists taking pics through the darkened windows?. I don't think I've ever seen a picture taken though these windows in the media ever? Could you even get a usable pic? Flash glare of the window, too dark, etc,etc

If you think of the tint as a ND filter there shouldn't be a problem.
You just need to isolate the flash from the lens, dial up the flash to max, dial up the sensitivity. I think a rubber lens hood should do it and with the camera and flash on manual. So a vintage rubber hood, a manual focus fast lens and a flash system best suited to manual, and excellent sensor response. Ideal Pentax territory!

The problem is the pros all have Canon and Nikon FF gear set to AE, autofocus and auto-flash lol
Lurking is shirking.!

Some prison vans are now fitted with TV's to keep the cons pacified on their way to and from court/prison, so I reckon it's best not to fire a flashgun through the van's windows, particularly when the Jeremy Kyle Show is on!!
