Morning

For the RAW shooters among you: from the ePHOTOzine website, this morning I got a time-limited offer of a free download of Corel “Aftershot 3” which claims to provide:
o NEW Comprehensive Watermarking
o Enhanced Highlight Recovery
o NEW Blemish Remover tools
o NEW Image Preset Library

You can download it via here: https://www.ephotozine.com/newsletter/free-offer--get-raw-photo-editor-aftershot...

That's the downloader file, and so you have then to download & install the full file and then go through the registration process
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

Thanks, worth a try. I've just installed it and it doesn't seem to see my K-1 dng's, only jpegs. Seems a similar problem as reported here:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/32-digital-processing-software-printing/3286...
For whatever reason, by the time you've read this I'll have uninstalled it! Doesn't seem to offer anything I can't do already with Elements and Irfanview, probably less if it can't cope with dng's. Being Corel I didn't have high hopes given their reputation for bloatware. They have history for making simple things too complex for themselves.
By the way, at no time was I requested to enter the registration code.

Opens DNGs from my K3 & K-30 with no problem.

Re your K-1 issue, according to the last post of P2 of that linked thread, there should be a plug-in for that camera.

Thanks, but as I said, uninstalled now. Don't feel it adds anything I can't do already other than add to hard disk use! Don't feel I should be having to fiddle sourcing plug-ins for industry standard dng files. Just the typical way Corel go about things, as bad, if not worse than Adobe. Programs they've wrecked include Family Tree Maker, Roxio's Go Back and I think this AS3 used to be called something else when it was probably quite good.
I was wondering if the issue was this isn't the 'Pro' version and just a trial hence lack of raw support.

Three attempts to install it - all failed at the screen asking if I had read the conditions etc.
And yes, my operating system is included (Win 7, 64 bit, fully updated).
Back to lightroom!

FWIW, installed first time on my W7 Pro 64 bit, fully patched AMD A8 laptop - and I did later enter the licence number from the linked Corel page.

Will leave it there for the time being.

Probably a fair "deal" (especially as it is free) for someone without L/R, maybe not so much for those who do have the latter.

Loaded it fine.

No competition for LR but I am sure it will be a fine addition for folk without the resources.

I have used Paint Shop Pro for some years and highly rate it.

Corel may have bloatware, but their customer service, im my experience, is superb compared to Adobe.

I downloaded the software.
It installed without problem but will NOT recognise K70 dng files !
I checked their list of supported cameras and although the K50 and K1 are listed the K70 (or KP) are not.

Why are K70 dng files so different ?

Could that likely be the embedded EXIF camera info rather than the actual DNG file format - and that the s/w has not been updated to recognise the latter two bodies?

The problem is its Corel, and that's how they do things. If you can make it that you have to create a new version or plug-in for something extra that's what they do!

Been playing with AS3 and found some very good things and one thing I really don't like!
- Good things are the often-free plugins - notably the free one for perspective correction, where you can get some really weird things such as making a "vanishing point" effect!
- I don't like - the hoops you seem to have to jump through to save edited images by using the "Export" command instead of just the "Save As" command which almost "everyone else" seems to use

Overall though, a very good deal for £0

PS: Has anyone signed up for the AS3 Pro upgrade for (IIRC) $15, and, if so, what do you think of it?
