OMG Oly is releasing an OM-D!
retro is coming back...
can a Pentax LX be far behind? with the Sony 24 mp sensor, dual core processor...detachable evf?
who wouldn't buy a lx styled d-slr or evil class cam?

Nay sayers just got to realize that SOMETHING is in the pipeworks, and a shortage of parts from Tialand, a company merger/buy out won't mean the end of everything..

it looks to me, like Pentax is simply selling off old stock before launching new products (which may or may not be delayed in production due to natural disasters) under the new company....

I refuse to believe the brand is dead, nor the k-mount....

if nothing else, I expect the next round of products will be equal in capability to their Nikon and Sony counterparts and better priced...

I don't know how they would squeeze all that technology into an LX size body but love the idea!!

The interview tells us nothing. However, Ricoh are certainly not shy about innovating and creating niche products; my GX100 is simply brilliant. I think the k-r replacement may well be 'evil'. Ultimately, I think that is the future,especially for the mainstream consumer market as Sony have already recognised.

Surely Pentax can do better with an lx inspired evf camera... just hoping... there are rumors...

I'd welcome an MX or MZ-S digital (FF, manual focus MX with AF on the MZ-S). As for getting digital into an existing body, Leica managed to do it and if Olympus manage to pull an OM-D out of the hat it will sell faster than any other body for the first few months.

Manual focus, M,Av and B exposure modes only. Strip out most of the in camera processing, output RAW only. Non crippled mount allowing use of K and M series lenses without needing the green button.

I'm not sure that many people would buy that.

No there's no point removing Tav and P mode, or in-camera jpeg processing (you're not going to save any money or space by omitting these things). AF would probably have to stay too.

But yes, decripple the mount and get rid of the pop-up flash. Get the rear LCD monitor as thin as possible and/or make it detachable (mounted flat to the rear - optional wired connection for use off-camera?) so it so you can shoot without it. Look at an alternative to sensor-shift image stabilisation so that the shake-reduction assembly can be removed and the sensor assembly made as thin as possible. It's worth going all out to try and get the camera thinner without changing the registration distance, because then the camera hits the ground running with a lens line up that blasts the other CSC cameras out of the water, is fully integrated with the DSLR system without fiddly adapters, and doesn't disenfranchise current DSLR users.

If that's not possible, produce a very functional adapter with the AF motor integrated into it so that the new body doesn't need to contain a screw drive motor...

I tend to think the 'crap marketing' is a European/UK problem. If you follow Pentax on facebook you will see how pro-active they are in the USA.

I'd buy a camera with M, P (MTF) and the variable P of the SFXn, Av and X.

Ha ha, on the US forum they are saying 'Why can't Pentax USA be more like Pentax UK?' based on this interview.

From what I've seen of US interviews, it's always the same guy (blonde, chubby & cheery looking) and he doesn't know anything about what's coming either.

I tend to believe that, rather than trying to hide stuff from the customers, they honestly have not been informed by head office of what is coming in the future.

Who indeed, but it is not credible that Jonathan Martin, General Manager, Pentax UK, does not know what's going on.

According to the Pentax guy I spoke to at SRS in November, Pentax UK is only 15 people. Not exactly a large bureaucracy where you'd expect most of them to know nothing.

I'll buy this: link if the price is reasonable.


now ask yourself...how much better would the k5 replacement have to be to justify a higher price? My guess.. it'l have the new sony 24 mp sensor or FF....
