Here in Burton - Marmite is now made by Unilever (possibly better known for soap powders)

And possibly better tasting than Marmite

I'll challenge you.

I'll have a large jar of marmite XO, and you can choose a similar size container of soap powder or washing liquid of any brand.

We can then have a race to see who consumes it all fastest.

If I go to: http://www.pentax.co.uk/en/PENTAX-Accessories I get the Pentax Medical website - which is part of Hoya.

But http://www.pentax.co.uk/en/ takes me to te camera website and a small link at teh bottom for medical.

Hoya and Ricoh are still sharing the pentax.co.uk domain.

I'm still unconvinced the soap powder/washing up liquid concoction would be any worse than a big jar of Marmite.

I think the referee/spectators would need to be at a safe distance

Well, I will start on my jar of Marmite at around 19:00 ...

By 21:00 it will be empty.

What flavour soap powder are you going for - and I'll want photographic proof.

But you probably love Marmite so it's an unfair bet.

Surely it would be more sensible if we had the race with you eating the soap powder and me the Marmite, I couldn't guarantee a winner on that one though.

Totally off topic now but years ago someone bet me a fiver I wouldn't eat a cigarette ... I took that bet, won the money and was confined to the bathroom for the following 48 hours constantly throwing up.

In the late 50's early 60's I was introduced to the pleasure of chewing tobacco when I worked down the pits. If I recall correctly it was called Uncle Jeff and cost 1/- a pack (twist). If it was accidently swallowed it became a laxitive with the side effect of causing severe heartburn.

It does of course make a lot of sense: PRIC becomes RIC.

The Pentax name will still be on the products.

TBH I don't give a monkeys about the name on the camera, I was happy enough with a Samsung badge with the GX10, it's all about what sort of investment they'll be putting into the products and this needs to kick in pretty soon as things are moving on very quickly now.

I'm certain many Pentax owners, much the same as I am, are keeping a close eye on developments elsewhere, the temptation to leave the brand is ever increasing so the next move needs to be a good one.

Please get back on topic, there's a pointless thread available for Marmite and other silly stuff.

I was out in Chester with Shaun Wilson a couple of days ago and we went into a camera shop in the City Centre (Camera Solutions). They are a Pentax Pro Dealer; we had quite a long chat with the guy behind the counter and he was very positive about the effect that Ricoh have had on the Brand. They are selling more cameras, they can get hold of stock much easier (cameras and lenses) and in general his view was that the future is bright for Pentax.

The Pentax name still does have some resonance due to the heritage, I don't think they will drop it from the cameras and I do think that there is a lot to be positive about.

I've never actually gone inside the shop, as I've always been put off by the high prices.
