Me? Shooting 4:3, cropping in LR.

4:3 gives 12Mp
3:2 gives 10Mp
1:1 gives 9Mp

The RAW will be just that

But the embedded JPG can have its aspect ratio & filters set (along with the +JPG too of course).

Yes. How about you?

I'm more enthusiastic about the Q than I have been about a camera for a long time. Really enjoying getting to grips with it. Can't wait to be able to go out and use it properly!

Alongside getting to grips with the Q I'm also reorganising my Lightroom library, so if anyone has any tips for that...

Why is that? I've seen plenty of people expressing similar feelings, but no-one really explains why. It seems to have a number of shortcomings compared with a DSLR, but plenty of people prefer it.

yes i'm quite liking it so far - all 7 or 8 hours I've owned it and spent around 20-30 mins with it lol. Loving how it's a miniature DSLR - all the settings, facilities, features and way of working you'd expect from your K5 are same or very similar and as Blunty says .... it's FUN !!!!

I don't prefer it to a DSLR it's a different camera not better. Sometimes I may not want to carry DSLR kit..well all the reasons have been expressed already all over tinterweb I'm not gonna go over them again.

It's difficult to explain why. I prefer a DSLR for most things. The Q has shortcomings but it has advantages too. Photography isn't always about image quality. I think you have to use one to see how it fits in for you. It has added an additional dimension to what I do. For me it's more about feeling and inspiration and I'm now never withoot a camera. Lots of intangibles that are difficult to explain.

Let's stop comparing the Q to a DSLR!
It's NOT a DSLR, never meant to compete with a DSLR, it's not aimed at the DSLR market, it's a different beast altogether!
We don't compare compacts to medium format cameras which is just as ridiculous, take the 'Q' for what it is and what it's meant to do....all cameras have their own limitations.

Michael

The Q generates a similar excitement to that which the original Auto110 did. You see it, you want it, it's a beautiful thing in its own right.

However, in addition , it actually takes excellent images as well. It isn't as easy to use universally as a DSLR, but it's not an all purpose camera. I can carry a Q where I can't carry a DSLR and I can make it work for me to make images that I can use.
Best regards, John
