Samsung has introduced the SH100 Wi-Fi enabled digital camera allowing users connect to wireless networks for sharing images and videos. The camera also allows users to pair up with compatible smartphones to enable geo-tagging, control the camera remotely or preview the scene.

Samsung got this right... I may have mentioned once or thrice that I want these features in my "Dream" Pentax d-slr....

Why not contact Pentax directly? If you have good ideas there must be someone who can pass them through the system in an effective manner.
Best regards, John

good point. Possible they won't want out of the blue suggestions..... legal issues... like movie directors that return unsolicited screenplays.. unopened?

It would be good if Pentax did listen to what users of it's products want. If I were running the company, I'd employ a few people just to sit at a computer all day, lurking around forums, review sites, flickr and such like places and writing down the things that people say about the products. Particularly the gripes, whines, complaints and frustrations of users. These would then be shown to the President, Executives, R&D people and the marketing department, every week.
Yes. - It would be nice to think that somewhere in Tokyo, in a tiny office at the Pentax HQ, some Westernised, tendy young things, in designer ripped jeans and T-shirts with random and meaningless western slogans on them, (so beloved of Asian youth), were furiously transcribing my recent moans about Pentax compacts and logging my pleas for a EVIL.

Probably not happening tho'. They probably develop and design their products on the basis of what some Paul Smith suited, goaty bearded, pony tailed Twat in an image and branding consultancy tells them. Probably the same one to which they paid millions of Yen, to come up with the name *ist, for a camera range.

I think you'll find people from Pentax do have computers and do surf the web. Some will be very enthusiastic photographers as well.

What Don needs is to know where to make contact - a few phone calls might help.

I think you mistyped 'twit' Mowog!

I'm sure Pentax do have a bunch of Westernised trendy young things in their offices. Unfortunately they're probably all on Facebook or coming up with ideas for user-customisable compacts in a range of candy colours.

Mowog, maybe you got "Twat" right, but I think you meant "trendy" when you wrote "tendy".

You can't win all the time.

Sure, they are on Facebook and you can write them directly on the forum. I don't know what the "Young Things" do with the information, though. If anything.

But Pentax' problem is they have a LONG list of things they need to put to the market before they can even think about the oughts. Personally, I believe the primary point of their to do-list is to come up with a cinsistent business strategy and start communicating this to us.

Interesting Joe, but I can see a consistent business strategy that has steadily brought them from the first steps with the *istD all the way to almost universal acclaim for the K-5 and K-r, final release of the 645D and a very much increased presence in the High Street.

Pentax have come a long way along a consistent path, no doubt as fast as financial backing would allow.

But do we have a right to be informed about what they intend next? I don't think so, although I guess their competitors would be very pleased to know!
Best regards, John
