Pentax Photolaboratory 3

I'm having trouble with PPL3 (version 3.61 ) having just downloaded to update version 3.51.
The 'enlarge tool' just about brings the programme to a halt when even loading it yet alone when making adjustments, so this means that adjusting for chromatic abb's is now impossible. Was previously OK on 3,51 though some other problems I was having with 3.51 have been rectified with new prog.
I know this is a fairly basic RAW converter but it does what I require as Lightroom is to big and complicated for what I want.
My favourite RAW converter was Rawshooter Essentials which was simple quick and effective but now no longer available though I still use it on older Raw files.
I've tried Bibblelite 4 and I'm not sure about the quality of the conversions so hesitant to purchase download.
As mentioned the Pentax converter generally does a good job except for the 'enlarging tool' on the preview image.I haven't tried reinstalling or redownloading yet, so any advice or comments would be appreciated especially from PPL users, if any.
I've contacted Pentax but they just said try on another PC or install GIMP. I've installed GIMP 2.6 and that doesn't convert RAW files so that was a waste of time.Seems Pentax don't know or care about their own software and other relevant programmes and their applications.

Photoshop Elements 8 includes the ability to open RAW files, so at just over £50 maybe that's an option.

Alternatively you could uninstall and reinstall the Pentax program and see if that does the trick.

I had similar problems with PPL3. It also crashed frequently. I now use Silkypix and PSE7 - no problems.

Said greyhead.

You can still get the 2006 version from at least two sources. I have just grabbed it from CNet downloads to see if it will work with DNG files.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe that Adobe bought out Rawshooter Essentials and the raw prog. in photoshop is based on RE. I had the free version of RE years ago long before PS and yes it was very good. As to Lightroom, I have it but can't get to grips with it. For now I'll stick to PS raw. CHEERS Vic.

Yes, I also believe that RSE was the forerunner of Lightroom and also having tried Bibble 4 It seems that some of the developers of this programme came from RSE.

Thanks for the advice and now to try the suggestions so here's hoping!!

As far as I can remember the report at the time said the RE developers went to Adobe to continue developement.
As for PPL anyone who has the K7 now has PPL4.
Like I said Lightroom and also PPL4 are still a bit of a mystery to me so I will stick with PR Raw {DNG} for now until get some time to try and figure them out. CHEERS Vic.
