It says he's closed until end September. If so, I can recommend Pramath at Asahi Photo, Brentford in London.

Let me know how you get on Phil, I dropped mine last week while it was on the Z-1, it works fine and everything looks ok but I just need to be sure...

Would having the lens serviced sort out the uneven resistance of the zoom action? My 16-45 has a very lumpy zoom action, stiff and then very loose. Optics are perfect, would be great to get it feeling good too.

The metal hood on the FA 31 would appear to be pressed onto the barrel. The hood is made from aluminium. I may need a new hood, as I can't imagine this can be made to fit snugly (although there is no visible marks/damage) from the drop. I've spoken to Asahi Photo and will be posting the lens to them today.

Received a call from Asahi Photo yesterday with a quote of £48 for the repair inc return postage. Should have the lens back by the weekend. Good so far.

does anyone do a similar service for sigma lenses at all? apart from sigma. a friend has been moaning about their 50-500 for a while. I told them to look at sigma directly for repair and they balked at the price.

Must admit I am a bit like that with dust (daft I know)
If it's just dust then give Alan a shout, he will probably only have to remove the front element ... he did a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 for me a while ago and it cost under £50 .... postage would probably cost more than that with the 50-500mm though (both ways insured)

Just sent Alan an email to ask about the Tokina 35-70. Has some small movement on the focus ring. Be nice to get that sorted.
