I've no idea why, but I sympathise with you. I have the same issue with my K5/K5iis and Metz 44-so much so that I have decided to give up trying to get consistent exposures and have gone full frame. Such a shame as in all other respects I'm very happy with the K5.

There have been 2 updates since I bought my Metz a couple of years ago.
