Hi all,

When I put a new Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG macro lens on my K30 it's asking for the focal length, I can use the lens manually but autofocus doesn't work. I was wondering if it's a faulty lens so the camera is not detecting it as a AF lens?

Any help would be appreciated.

If it's new, yes, I'd recommend a replacement from where you bought it from.

tried cleaning the camera and lens contacts?

Yes I did to be sure that's not causing the issue. Assuming it would have been ok anyway as the lens is brand new (just out the box) and the camera is only 7 weeks old and works perfectly with Pentax lenses.

Try turning the aperture ring if it has one - my old version of this lens sometimes plays up and that is needed is a quick turn on the aperture ring then return it to the 'A' setting then all is ok

However, as it is a new lens it would be sensible to send it back for repair or replacement
