Pentax K10D slanting pictures

Dear friends,

Recently my k10d seems to have developed a minor fault, quite familiar to the model. I notice a good degree of slant in the pics. I tilt the camera to right and i manage right pics. But holding the camera straight, the pics are slanted. Any suggestions, remedies and how much would it cost to rectify the fault. If its going to cost much, would tilt and manage shots as the camera produces great images.

Regards,

jeeess

ho notato anch'io quel difetto da qualche mese a questa parte e a quanto ho capito ci tocca tenerla cosi' visto che anche mandandola in assistenza non e' garantita la soluzione del probema

And Google Translate says:

"I noticed that I lack a few months now and I understand we have to keep it so 'as even sending it in for service is not' guaranteed solution probema!"

Which I guess doesn't answer your question

I think it could be something to do with the Shake Reduction system, try switching it off and see if you still get the problems, also try holding it firmly on a flat level surface and see what happens.

Dont you mean;

Oops, il mio era stato fatto come fatspider entrato nel suo

PS: I should point out there was no intention of ridicule in my post, I interpreted the post from Cuori to mean he had the same problem and having the camera serviced did not guarantee to fix it.

I, (well other posters in My Portfolio) have seen the same effect in some of my pictures.

I am not convinced that it is consistent and have not tested whether it is SR dependant.

A few weeks ago I asked if the K10D had any early implementer issues (as the K5 did :wink and one poster replied that the effect being discussed here did appear in some models.

My GX10 (rebadged K10D) had this problem, it is caused by the mirror not being quite straight with respect to the mirror box. If you align the subject correctly in the viewfinder then the final image leans.

Mine was replaced by the dealer as soon as I contacted them and the second one was fine. There are numerous hits in Google relating to the 'K10D mirror misalignment'.

I also recently had the tilt problem on my K7 (still just under warranty).
On talking to Pentax technical, they told me to return it for repair.
It came back from JP servicing with a note saying it had been 'repaired and calibrated, but no details as to what the problem was.
It is fine now though.

Phew, I'm glad other people have had this problem as I thought it was me not holding the camera level. I've had this problem since I first got the camera and have not bothered to return it, too late now as it's out of guarantee - as I said I thought it was me. I end up using the straightening tool in PSE most times.

Thanks for the information.

Cheers,

Howard
