Not impressed with the Pentax.co.uk site as it doesn't list the fixes

strange that the Japanese site still only lists 1.03

Nowhere near as bad as the choice of slogan "Pix Your Life".

Quest que ce?

"Firmware K-5 v1.10 pour Windows"

That's what it says on the download list from Smeggy's link to the Pentax website.

I think I will wait till it appears on the Japan or Canada websites too, in case of a malevolent French hacker!

I've read that it adds menu for the new Pentax GPS so there will also be updates coming for the 645D and the Kr.

If it's says it's for the K5 i doubt it will work on the K7, don't you think?
Also the camera will refuse to install it because of that but there are ways to force it though but there is no telling what will happen...

edit:
Installed the update and indeed it adds a GPS menu.
Hopefully they also tweaked the AF a bit and the flash exposure as well...

Pity it didn't actually add GPS

As soon as the Japan site hosts it and adds some relaese information, I'll isntall it on one K05 and compare the AF with 1.03

It's now listed on the Pentax.jp site
http://www.pentax.jp/english/support/digital/k-5_s.html

Quote:
Changes to V1.10

Correspond to GPS unit [O-GPS1]

*Contents of [Version 1.03] will be also updated.
Looks like just GPS support then.

Pretty poor release note from Pentax.

They should outline explicitly whats been included so that people aren't left wondering. If it's just the support for the O-GPS1 then so be it...say explicitly that there are no other fixes. Going from 1.03 to 1.10 could suggest a few iterations meaning various features may have been touched

So my K5 is less than a week old, and the manual is out of date already

Updated to V1.10 firmware with no issues.

Unfortunately this is their standard. Someone should really get on the ball at Hoya and realise the importance of explicit documentation and timely firmware releases. Each one is the occasion for promoting the product line, but they prefer to sneak them out the back door! Bizarre behaviour.

No it doesn't
(i.e. you are not missing 1.04 to 1.09!!)

Changes in the second decimal place are typically for bug fixes.
Changes in the first decimal place are typically for minor feature additions.
Changes in the integer part denote major change.

Especially surprising as its a Japanese company where good performace seems to be a deciding factor of who gets the boot.

As for the update, maybe you have to buy the GPS unit to find it
