If it doesn't exist, it's one helluva hoax! I would guess it will be announced in the next few days (if not tomorrow) now the retailers have let the cat out of the bag.

..and why is there nothing on the Pentax/Ricoh Japan site?

The worry is that this is a project camera that has, somehow, been miss represented by the French importers.

As such , even though announced and advertised, it may not exist.

I hope I'm wrong and that this will be a replacement for my aging K200...
Cheers, HG

But nothing official from Pentax.

When I click on the Amazon links I just get a default 'not here'page.

Hard to believe soemone would hack Amazons pages and then bother to x3 in different colours,

A very well delivered hoax if its not real.

But real it is I reckon

Not a Marc Newson design clearly

I like it.

I really like the design and spec. I'm very interested in this new offering.

I always thought that the line-up of K-m, K200D and K20D was something Pentax got spot on. Truth be told, I believe this was the only time Pentax had a well crafted and comprehensive line-up which gave a clear choice to the consumer. A simpler where it needed to be mid-range that still offered a weather resistant body, yet didn't compete with the K20D, but was clearly not an entry level body was a good move.

I think Pentax have certainly found the K200D replacement with the K30. Good call Pentax. (I might add I really hope its not a hoax, and that there will be the 'genuine' entry level body to be announced later).

sort of looks like it could be a hinge for a flip out lcd...
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

I rather like the blue version. I had a steel blue X90 for a while and it certainly looked good.

The three variations are on Amazon and marked for release on 25th June.

It will be interesting to see what the details of the spec are.
Best regards, John

One of the main reasons I sold my G12 was because of the flip out screen.
As a rule, I dislike them - a lot...

A flip screen may see me go for this over the k5, despite the fugly styling! I only had one camera with a flip screen, Olympus c5060 - it was fantastic. With video it would be even more useful.

I actually like the styling on this one, there have been some ulgy designs in the past (K20 was a dog imo, made worse with the grip) but this one I find attractive.

It's good we're all different though

Styling is certainly better than recent attempts, the last good body (ergonomically) was the K10/20 imo

It's hardly surprising that with all the bad publicity caused by posts on forums that followed the previous two cameras that they have just released this straight to the dealers.

Looks a nice enough design although I don't like the position of the mode dial and green button, although it may be better in that position than on the K-5.

Maybe they realised that everybody loves a leak?
