Also to give you an idea of what people are buying in 2013 the top 10 sales chart for cameras sold worldwide and by worldwide I mean Asia, the Americas, Europe etc etc or anywhere sales figures can be relied upon.

Includes 4 APC-S cameras, 1 Mirrorles camera, 1 Bridge camera, 1 FF Camera and 3 Compacts.

So I guess I know what market I need to invest my limited funds into.

I'm still hopeful that Pentax release a ff dslr that way we can get back to whinging about the lack of long lenses most of us could not afford even if more existed

More seriously, I am content to sit back and wait to see what happens, it is entirely possible that if Pentax do release an ff dslr people will only moan it is too late, it is not this or not that whilst those who buy it will (if it happens) probably be delighted with it

I also think that Pentax should hire Algi to come up with their advertising slogans - I reckon that would attract some attention

I think I'd rather see them continue to develop and refine the good APSC bodies they have, and update the 645D which is a superb niche product with no obvious direct competitor. I'd be interested in a FF body myself if the price was right, but I'm not sure how they'd make it profitable, especially with a group of buyers many of whom will want to use existing legacy lenses rather than buy into a whole new system.

- brand new SAFOX XIIIi+ focus technology;
- two more megapixels!!!
- five more cross type AF sensors!!!
- Super HDR...

DSLRs reached point where there is enough megapixels to print out 10x15cm pictures. Every home (who wanted DSLR) has one. New features does not add value.

That`s why sales will decrease.

Or you know some super features (like video or live view) what can be added to DSLR?

It is perfect time for DSLR. If market growth (obviously!) is not possible by linear means (adding SAFOHs, megapixels, frames per second, etc), then it is time for breakthrough solutions - to sell to their loyal customers something.

Faster more accurate AF, faster more capable buffers and better low light ( Higher ISO ) performance will always be highly desirable by many photogrpahers. the latter for me... I'd love to be able to take pictures at ISO102400 and beyond in low light conditions with noise levels comparable to what you'd get from say ISO400 from today's DLSRs

As for 10x15cm prints,well you could do that easily with a 0.5MP camera.

But then I remember Pentax - Optical company. May be they would like to make some extra and different mounts, to offer different optical products to mount on different mounts?

Good point was to leave Pentax mount with Samsung too (but seems Samsung does not want to spread Pentax bussiness).

Would be nice to outsorce from Sony not only sensor, but whole FF camera (some limited series). It might sell like hotcake, rising demand for limiteds, DFA macro... And all Sigmas .

I feel things have moved on from FF, which would now be so expensive to develop that the unit costs would probably be too high. Presumably we'd all like to see an FF, but how many of us would pay 1.5-2K for one?

There's so much more that could be done, most of which would be much cheaper to develop and much more widely appreciated and useful in expanding the user base (which is more important right now).

What we really need is clarity, I've been holding off buying more DA lenses 'just in case' and making do with various older lenses when I might otherwise have been tempted to stock up on new ones.

Not sure where you get your ideas from on maximum print sizes, but I have about 15 of my landscapes printed by FOTO.com at 100cm x 70cm - all shot on my K7 and from about 5 feet viewing distance indistinguishable from the 1mb web versions! And where do I store them ? A few at a time on my walls, the rest rolled up in a cupboard

The files sent to FOTO.com to produce these were JPEGs, about 12-16mb filesize - no problem at all!

I can't believe we need 18mp cameras for a 10x15 print

I spend quite a lot of time in China. No where else have I seen so many DSLRs. They seem to have become the standard camera for. Snapping ones child. The other day I even saw a k30! So maybe the DSLR is not dead.

What? for a tiny 10cm x15cm print. That's the size of the tiny prints that came back from the chemist which is approx A6 size.

Of course you don't need 18MP to print @ A6

I looked up some advice for a good resolution for a 4"x6" ( 10x15cm) print and 300dpi was recommended. 1200x1800px.

Just over 2.1MP should do it then.

What DPI do you peeps print at?
