Shim,
from what you have described the condition of the TC being mint and excellent, there is very little chance it will see the light of ebay at least for a good few months, even then I doubt very much, I like the possibility of having extra length without necessarily carrying heavy load . So DA*300 it is and the pentax 1.7TC are going to residing in my mini arsenal for long time coming

Thanks for all your help.

Mike, happy hunting, the search goes on for you huh? I know you have been after one of these for a while. I was just lucky, a very kind forum member who usually entertains us with superb bird shots with his DA*300 and a recently purchased similar TC here was the one who recommended me to put up a message and here came Shim out of nowhere with the goods . Any guess who this forum member is?, can't be that hard, he is the one swamped with goldfinches in his backgarden and probably the reason why me and Scott dont get any in ours

I wouldn't say I have been searching for one for a while, every now and then I fancy trying one but something else always crops up to take my money (such is life).
Enjoy the TC and I look forward to seeing some pics taken with it

Thanks to a kind offer from another forum member, I have been browsing through some old PU magazines from the early 90s. I found the second hand kit pages very interesting. Unsurprisingly, the camera bodies were going for much more then than now. Lenses are, however, often going for about the same price. The AF converter? About 50 quid then compared to 200+ now.

Perhaps Pentax's R&D team should take note!

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.
