Before you send it off.....
take a jeweller's screwdriver and turn the screw-drive, depends on how much resistence you get will let you know whether if it's the SDM that has died....Twice I have had my DA* lenses falter on me, the focussing ring was stiff, a twiddle with the screwdriver released the mechanism, which not long afterwards was working fine...If this doesn't do the trick as Mike says JPSS will fix it - standard price is £180 (might have gone up) my DA* was significantly improved post repair.

Can i ask for your sugestions-opinions about the same lens please.
I dont use the lens very often so i want to sell it but after avery time i put the lens on the camera it wont focus straight after the camera is turned on untill i refocus it manually from minimum distance to infinity.
Is it the SDM passing away or is it a normal behaviour of a SDM lens if it is not muchofften in use?
As i mentioned before i want to sell it but i dont want to sell faulty item so i am thinking to send it for service check and as it was purchased in USA, to send it there and get it serviced will take a long time(i believe..) so i will probably send it to JP Service Solution.

Hi
I have never experienced this problem with my lense before it stopped focuusing completely. It was a bit fiddly to focus correctly and you couldn't always point and shoot as it was inclined to focus on the wrong point in your composition......I can only assume that it is a developing fault with the lense
