One of these link allows you to balence the camera/lens set up so it stays in place when you leave go

Is it ball creep or zoom creep Stan as the head is rated to 15kg

Hi Stan, I take it that your using the foot on the lens and not the tripod socket on the camera?
I would have thought a 4" B&S would hold it. It's normal for the lens to drop slightly when you let go you have to aim a bit higher to compensate and you have to tighten the screw really tight to hold it.
It's better if you can balance the lens and camera by using a longer
QR plate on the camera.
There's nothing like having a really substantial B&S head with friction hold, but they are expensive. I use two Novoflex ones which are really solid. Arca is the top one.

You could try a longer QR plate so that you can adjust the balance point. Of course with the 150 - 500 the balance point changes dependant on the focal length chosen.

Sample of what I was taking, middle of lens on abbey but it "dropped" so middle of lens was at about half way between abbey and church. unstraightened pic
Yes, using the tripod foot. Will have to look at the longer plate.

Try it with the tripod unextended to see if it still happens, just to check if there is some play in one of the leg joints or if the head is responsible.
