Hi All,
I am really confused..
I have a K10d + elements 5.0 +camera Raw 4.6.
I have just bought a new PC and reinstalled all of the software etc.. I have obviously done something different as I used to be able to import files from my card reader/hard drive in PEF format.
When I try to do it now I cannot import PEF ..
Anyone know what I done wrong or what I need to do so they will get imported please.
Please keep it simple
Pete
Pentax K7 and K5 and several black tubey things with magnifying glass in that twist around and move in and out - to be honest I am not sure exactly what I have. Will list the proper names one day..

Have you downloaded the Pentax Raw Codec from the Pentax site?, and if using Vista O/S the Adobe DNG Codec from adobe??

Or just Google Pentax raw Codec and the site will be listed.

I found the Pentax codec its for Vista .. tried to install it and it failed part way through probably cos it was for vista and i got XP.. I really cannot find the Pentax codecs for XP so if you do find you have time I would really appreciate it as I used raw today and want to get them into my Elements..
I know there is a long winded way to do it but I am not that desperate yet ..
Just a thought would it be on my k10 disk that came with camera?

One (possible) workaround is to download Adobe's standalone Camera RAW converter. That can turn your PEF files into DNG files... which probably will import into your current PSE.

e.g. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4365

Hope that helps!

Did you embed Camera Raw 4.6 into your PSE5? I am surprised PSE 5 couldn't automatically support the K10D to be honest.
With PSE 6 I downloaded the version of camera RAW I needed and followed their instructions for getting it into PSE. Even a technophobic like me managed it.
Check the Adobe site again and follow their instruction to the letter.

Doh!!
Now you mention technophobic - how about a technophobic numpty

Dont ask me who put the raw file in the wrong folder cos I wouldnt admit it ... All I had to do ws put the camera raw plugin into the correct directory.

I really thank you all for helping and apologise for my stooopidity and time wasting ..
Thank you again
