optio m20

I have a optio m20 and its has been fantastic until I returned from spain this week, everytime I switch it on the screen displays auto mode the lens then moves in and out then switches off, can anyone help

I think I'm experiencing the same problem with my V10. Did you get to the bottom of this in the end, roverjohnny?

I know this seems obvious but have you checked the batteries?

Thanks so much for the prompt response! Yes, I gave the battery a good charge and am still getting the same problem. I'm 90% certain the issue is the one discussed here and here. So I will be brave and open the camera to see what I can achieve! I have already researched what a worm screw looks like on Google Images

When you open the case take great care what you touch, the flash capacitor even in a little camera can give quite a nasty shock.

Ah OK, thanks for the warning, I hadn't considered the possibility that the operation could actually be dangerous! Do you know of any resources where I can quickly read up on what is what to avoid touching anything hazardous?

Unfortunately I don't. I just know from bitter experience just what a shock, in both senses of the word, it was! I would have thought that the one belt I got would have discharged the capacitor but no. I got a second one.
