One Day In London

I have one day next week in London and I'm looking for interesting and probably less usual photo opportunities. How would you recommend spending the day?

Where will you be staying? Big place

Bromley. I'm going to explore Nunhead and surrounding areas for one day. The other is free - distance doesn't matter.

In that neck of the woods, you are close to Maidstone, or if you are prepared to venture out a bit further, try Leeds Castle (Kent, Not Leeds, Yorkshire!).

It has to be greater London for ease and cost of getting around as I'll be using public transport.

It would be Greenwich for me - some great architecture - the old naval college, the Maritime Museum, market, riverside and not forgetting the Cutty Sark

Agreed, but remember where you'll be - stay alert!!

Boats from Greenwich into Central London; the O2 arena just along the way, with the Jubilee Line to take you to Docklands (some great architecture, etc, but private property so get permission before togging), East London (Brick Lane) and the Olympic Park, or in the other direction, Waterloo and South Bank, Central London.

Approach to Heathrow and/or City airports, let me know if you need more details.

First, get a good London map.

If you feel happy with a reasonable walk I suggest you come into central London. I think from Bromley you should be able to get to London Bridge Station.

From there you could walk along the south side of the Thames past Clink prison, the Millennium Bridge, the Globe, Tate Modern, the London Eye and towards Westminster Bridge.

Cross Westminster Bridge and walk up Whitehall to Trafalgar Square. Go along the Strand and go turn left up one of the side streets to Covent Garden.

You will probably need some refreshment so I suggest the Bistro in Southampton Street for good cheap food -

This is one of my favourite pubs because it always has just lots of people having a drink and talking, and it serves some great Guinness.

I think I would go to Watford,....and spend the day,and your savings in SRS!...

I already did that.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see what I come up with.

I'd recommend walking the Thames Path, especially my favorite one, London Eye to Putney (probably done that walk at least a dozen times now).
