As I say Scott, I haven't had a chance to really see what it can do, but it looks very promising. It's my first prime and it's not as hard to live with as I thought. What goes through my mind is that it's a crying shame that Pentax don't do anything over 300mm in either prime or zoom.

Totally agree, would like to see a 500mm prime.

Another one.

Unfortunately, by the time these pictures have been reduced to 800 pixels most of the original sharpness has been lost.

If you got used to using a 500mm lens on film, the DA*300mm is the equivalent of 450mm. I don't see the problem really. A 500mm lens will equate to 750mm. Try keeping that baby still enough to take a shot in normal daylight when the shutter speed needs to be at least 1/500th.

Its lucky you didn't buy a Bigma then, you'd have moaned all summerThey arrived last week and as per Murphy's law it has been cloudy ever since.
As for a 500mm prime, I hear Pentax are releasing a 500mm f1.4 that means we all have to pool together and buy one except for paulyrichard who will be too busy snapping the rest of us

It would have a front element as big as a manhole cover

Worthing
I got fed up in the end, and K20d, DA*60-250 and DA*300 went to the Wetlands Trust at Arundel. All shot at ISO400 hand held.

I have just started to see the magic of these lenses, and I can't wait for Biggin Hill, The Festival of Speed and Shoreham with some sunshine PLEASE.
Any thoughts appreciated.
