Oggy's DA* Binge (Why's there no light?)

With the threat of silly price rises to come I spoke to the nice people at SRS and as a result they are rather better off and I am selling "the Big Issue" in the evenings, but have some nice lenses. They arrived last week and as per Murphy's law it has been cloudy ever since.

I got fed up in the end, and K20d, DA*60-250 and DA*300 went to the Wetlands Trust at Arundel. All shot at ISO400 hand held.

60-250 200mm, 1/125 F10.

300, 1/250 F6.3

I have just started to see the magic of these lenses, and I can't wait for Biggin Hill, The Festival of Speed and Shoreham with some sunshine PLEASE.

Any thoughts appreciated.

As I say Scott, I haven't had a chance to really see what it can do, but it looks very promising. It's my first prime and it's not as hard to live with as I thought. What goes through my mind is that it's a crying shame that Pentax don't do anything over 300mm in either prime or zoom.

Another one.

Unfortunately, by the time these pictures have been reduced to 800 pixels most of the original sharpness has been lost.

If you got used to using a 500mm lens on film, the DA*300mm is the equivalent of 450mm. I don't see the problem really. A 500mm lens will equate to 750mm. Try keeping that baby still enough to take a shot in normal daylight when the shutter speed needs to be at least 1/500th.

Its lucky you didn't buy a Bigma then, you'd have moaned all summer

As for a 500mm prime, I hear Pentax are releasing a 500mm f1.4 that means we all have to pool together and buy one except for paulyrichard who will be too busy snapping the rest of us

And we'd all have to pool together to carry it too.
