Official K-5 specs !!!

I doubt I'll be able to hold one, but it will be good to at least be able to see the thing. And the new compacts too - they are also of interest.

There are lots of other things I want to see at Photokina besides the Pentax stand, though it, being convenient for the entrance from the train station, will probably be first on my list. I do have to go past the Pod stand to get to it, so may get diverted by that first .

And when I have had enough there is always the city to wander around.

Oh and 4pm BST? so 5 PM here?

well it came from the Other Forum so is probably completely wrong - but the quote was 4pm euro time as I recall.

(has a look) They are unlocking their spec pages at 10:00am EST - and shown at photokina on 22nd it says here

I thought I read somewhere that the specs would be unveiled at 1600 German time, so that would be the same time here.

Pricing now available as embargo is lifted. Two samples on my blog. Everyone happy with the lens at €450?

I still find it hard to believe Pentax would wait until day 2 of Photokina to reveal the K-5.
There is no Pentax press conference listed for any of the days of the exhibition.
Samsung have a press conference today I see.

They start by saying it's the new top of the line model and then go through the basic specs, as you can see from the titles. They do mention specially the TAv modes and other items that are old news to us. The shutter sounds quite nice, no?

Oops - was reading three forums more or less simultaneously - doesn't work. Will stick to just reading now.

Now I'm confused.
Pentax are supposed to be bringing out new flashes for use with IRsimple. The K-r has this so is compatible.
According to depressingreview though the K-5 doesn't? Surely Pentax will no bring out flashes which can only work with one lower model, not with their flagship model?

maybe it was just overlooked by the reviewer?
there were a number of typos in the press releases...

I would guess that could be done by a software upgrade at a later stage, as its done through the focus-assist light. Although, tbh, what's wrong with using the pop-up flash then they can make new flashes compatible with their old cameras, too, then you don't have line-of-sight issues. Or Bluetooth. Or WiFi. In fact, Infra-Red is a really stupid way to connect cameras and flashes... as I recall, they were paid to put IrSimple in the K-r by a printer manufacturer rather than it being anything else.
